The secret lasted three days. Three days of watching Adrian coordinate with Mikhail, seeing them work together, knowing the truth that lay beneath the surface. It was eating her alive.
On the fourth day, she broke.
"I need to tell you something," she said over breakfast. "About Mikhail."
Adrian looked up from his coffee, immediately alert. "What about him?"
"He came to see me. A few days ago. Told me something you need to know." She took a breath. "He's the dead Mikhail's half-brother. They shared a father."
