Chapter 108: Escape
The three-way war was spiraling out of control.
FBI pinned down. Konstantin's men fighting with desperate ferocity. Adrian in the middle, trying to reach Konstantin through the chaos.
And she was standing there. Holding a weapon. Watching. Helpless.
"Mama!" Sophie's voice. Terrified. From the ambulance.
She turned. Saw one of Konstantin's men approaching Sophie. The paramedic was down. Unconscious or dead. Sophie was alone. Vulnerable.
"No!" she screamed. Started running. But too far. Too slow. She'd never make it in time.
Adrian saw it too. Changed direction. Sprinting toward Sophie. Toward the threat.
But Konstantin moved to intercept. Grabbed Adrian. Stopped him. "Let her watch. Let her see what happens when you choose wrong."
