They reached the hospital in chaos.
Fire trucks. Ambulances. Patients being evacuated. But the damage wasn't as bad as it had looked from a distance.
"It was a small device," a firefighter told them. "Targeted. Hit the administrative wing. Not patient care."
"The NICU?" she demanded. "Where's the NICU?"
"Different building. Undamaged. All the babies are safe."
Relief flooded through her. David was safe. Their son was safe.
