Chapter 101
She woke to chaos.
Screaming. Gunfire. The sound of her monitor beeping frantically as someone disconnected it.
"What's happening?" Her voice was hoarse. Weak. "Where..."
A nurse appeared. Young. Terrified. "You need to stay quiet. Stay down. There are men, armed men,they've taken over the floor..."
"My baby. Where's my baby?" She tried to sit up. Couldn't. Too weak. "David. Where is he?"
"NICU is on a different floor. He's safe. But you, we need to move you. Now."
Hands lifted her. Transferred her to a wheelchair. She was too weak to protest. Too confused to understand.
They wheeled her into the hallway. And she saw it.
Bodies. Security guards. Down but not dead. Unconscious. Tranquilized, maybe.
