Liliana's Innocence

Chapter 6

I slowly walk over to the seat across from the desk and sit down. I try to control my breathing but it's no use.

"W-what's wrong? A-m I in t-trouble?", I stutter, tears start to form in my eyes.

Papa sighs and runs his fingers through his hair.

"I was informed that you skipped school with Axel. On your second day Liliana, really?". he scolds me, disappointment fills his eyes.

"W-what do you mean skipping? I swore I wasn't skipping in the h-hallways I was w-walking the entire da-". Papa cuts me off.

"Liliana not that skipping!". He yells loudly raising his hands in the air.

I whimper and flinch back. He has never been this aggressive with me before, what's going on?

Papa looks at me softly, "Sweetheart I'm sorry for yelling. I'm just very frustrated that you were with Axel when I told you not to."

"But Maddox is friends with him a-and he was really nice to me!", I say in one big breath.

"He is bad news Lily."

"How is he bad Papa! He has only ever been kind and sweet to me. You barely know him, so what gives you the right to judge him.", I say the last part softly.

Papa looks away and sighs.

"You're right Lily, I'm sorry. I should've judged him before I knew him. But you have to understand that I'm trying to look out and protect you. I don't want you to get hurt."

"I get t-that, but today was amazing he s-showed me nothing but kindness!"

"What did you guys do?", Papa asked.

I went on to tell him everything. From the fight, to the truck incident, and the cookies. Papa said as long I'm happy, he's happy.

I wake up bright and early this morning, looking forward to going to school. I open my closet to find something to wear.

I pick out a grey and white plaid skirt that stops around at my upper thigh. I match it with a cropped grey zip up hoodie. It covers my whole stomach so I wont get too cold.

After putting on my outfit I go into my bathroom to get ready. I brush my teeth and wash my face, leaving my hair alone. Once I'm done I skip down the stairs.

I stop in the kitchen to get some breakfast some Coco Puffs sound good right now.

Problem is that it's on one of the top selfs and I'm 4'9. I get my height from my Mama. I also got her light brown hair. I keep telling Maddox to keep the cereal in the bottom cabinets but he never does it. Of course he doesn't have to worry he's a giant like our dad, 6'3 I think.

I reach up and stand on my tippy toes trying to grab the yummy cereal box. After a few unsuccessful tries I stop since my toes start to cramp. I give it one more go and just as I'm about to grab it, a hand lands in the box and another around my waist.

My eyes widen and I slowly turn around to see who grabbed the box for me. I look up and see Axel with a smirk on his face.

I stand there frozen, looking at him weirdly. Uh why is he in my kitchen? I hear the taping of a foot. I turn around to see Maddox with his hands on his hips and an eyebrow raised.

"I go to the bathroom for two minutes and you still end up near her.", he mumbles glaring at Axel.

He just smirks in return. I notice that he's still holding the coco puffs. Nope I came in here for on thing. I whine and reach out for it, I go to grab it but he raises his hand dangling it over my head.

"Jump for it.", he says still smirking.

I groan and start jumping. After a few failed attempts, I start getting frustrated .

"Gimme the coco puffs Axel! You're being mean I didn't do anything to you!", I say as tears to start to form in my eyes.

His eyes soften as he hands them to me.

I grab them and make a huffing noise, meanie didn't even let me eat my breakfast.

"Hurry up Lilliana, we'll be in the car.". Maddox says.

"Ya Lily hurry.", Axel says mocking me. Know what? Just for that I'm gonna take my sweet time.

We are currently running down the hallway towards our first period class of the day.

By we I mean me, Axel and Maddox are just walking fast.

"Come on we're gonna be late!", I say to them.

"And whose fault is this? You were the one who took forever to eat your Coco Puffs!", Maddox says.

"You can blame Axel for that since he decided to tease me!", I retort back.

We all have first period together today since it's a block day. Block days are were classes are way longer but we only do the odd periods. 

Once we get to the door Axel opens the door letting us walk in the room first. Some kids look up from their papers to see what happened.

"You three are 20 minutes late!", the teacher says to us. I suddenly find my shoes very interesting. What a lovely shade of white they are.

Axel rolls his eyes and motions for Maddox and I to follow him towards the back of the room where there's four seats open.

We each take a seat in one. I pull my bag onto my lap and get everything I need for the class. I set it down next to me but look up when I hear the empty desk next to me scraping the floor. A guy around my age sits in it. He has blond hair and blue eyes with a boyish grin on his face.

I've never seen him around, maybe he's new. I notice that he's looking at me so I give him a little smile.

"I'm Tyler. I just moves here from California, new and all. What's you're name?", he whispers to me.

"I'm Liliana, I'm new here too but I started a few days ago. I go here with my brother.", I say than look away proud of myself for not messing up my words.

After that I turn away and look around the room. I see a hand grab my chair and shift it over towards them. I follow the arm to see Axel glaring at Tyler.

Geez what's up with him? Why is he so grumpy? Oh! Maybe it's because I didn't share my coco puffs this morning!
