Maeve's pov.
Waking up to the morning sun, I wondered when I fell asleep. One minute I was waiting for the king to come to me and scold me or something and the next I woke up to see the sunrise.
I looked around to find Gwen arranging what seemed to be a dress.
"Good morning, Gwen" I climbed down the bed.
"Maeve dear, Hope you slept well?"
I nodded, but my attention was caught by the pretty dress that looked like it had been carefully picked from many options.
"Am I going somewhere?" I asked
Confused.
Gwen smiled and came closer cheerfully, "There's a mating ceremony been held today"
I swear I felt my heart on my throat and numerous knots in my stomach at her words.
'has the king finally decided to mark me even if I wasn't ready?'
My head was on a rollercoaster with numerous questions as my face revealed the horror I was feeling.
Gwen broke into laughter after watching my expressions.
I went closer to her, "Gwen, could you please with the king on my behalf?"
"So you know the king is angry at you en?"
"But last night was a mistake, why is he punishing me by marking me without my willingness?" I cried out in frustration.
This wasn't my plan at all!
"Who said the king wants to mark you?" Gwen asked, looking at me confused.
I paused, wondering what she meant.
"You just mentioned a mating ceremony..."
"Oh dear, I wasn't talking about your mating ceremony, the king is hosting it for his sister, princess Lena who would be getting married"
I took in so many breaths of relief, a hand on my chest, while Gwen couldn't stop laughing at my reaction.
"The ceremony would be taking place in the evening, you would get to meet new people" Gwen informed.
I was about to ask if there would be any witches attending but knew it was impossible knowing how much werewolves hate our kind.
I would be the only witch there, it would be like serving one prey to so many wolves.
Somehow I was still excited to attend even if I might be a prey, I wanted to know the kind of people the werewolves are.
As if knowing what I was thinking, Gwen's expressions turned serious.
"You know this might be hard for you right? And if you would eventually become our Luna you would need to not be known as 'weak'". There was worry etched in her expression.
I just nodded anticipating the night.
....
Looking at myself in the mirror right now, I couldn't recognize my reflection, I was beyond amazed by how I looked.
It was the first time I was wearing a dress made of such luxurious fabric, I was putting on a wine colored prom mermaid gown, with a slit that went up my mid thigh, bringing out my fair legs and it made the dress all the more perfect for me.
Hugging all of my curves, the dress revealed small of my cleavage, bringing out my allure.
I wanted to change into something more reserved but Gwen refused.
"You should be turning heads tonight as a first impression, trust me there would be a lot of ladies wearing dresses that are more revealing." She stated with a mischievous gaze.
I smiled but felt a bit anxious but she made me feel more relaxed with her comforting gaze.
Only if she knew my goal tonight wasn't the people in the party.
I walked down the stairs, arriving at the already bustling party.
I was surprised at how many oeouwere in attendance, I was expecting a small gathering but I guess not.
Looking around, most people were chatting and socializing, but it didn't take time for me to begin to get strange gazes.
Each look uglier than the former.
It was awkward since I was alone, I didn't know anyone here and I was sure talking to anyone would only earn me humiliation.
So I did what I knew best, and what I knew would work.
There were so many questions I needed answers for, so somehow I needed to know people I can ask.
My eyes roamed the decorated hall for my target, a girl in a very colorful dress that evidently calls for attention.
I walked up to her,"oh my God, is this the latest piece by Kelvin Valentino?" I exclaimed looking pleasantly shocked.
"How did you know?" She asked, evidently pleased by my recognition.
"Is it really a piece by the famous designer, Kelvin?" There was whispers among the other ladies close by who were listening in.
In an instance the limelight was on her and the way she smiled so bluntly was all I needed to know I got her attention and maybe even her favour.
From the get go, looking into thoß proudful eyes I could tell the kind of person she was. Someone who carved attention, someone who wants to be the center of all attractions. So if maybe I just played my cards well, I would gain myself an Ally.
"This must be his latest piece, but no one has even set eyes on it, how were you able to find it?" I dramatically places my palm on my lips in amazed way.
There was a shy smile in her eyes, as she grinned prettily.
Now I knew the secret, how I use it would determine what she would be to me.
I leaned into her ears and whispered, "Don't tell me... You are that person to him?"
She was visibly shocked by my revelation, but I only smiled in return while I excused my self to use the restroom.
Knowing she would come after me.
I walked away, very slowly knowing she would follow but I wasn't even half way there when I was flanked by two ladies who had an ugly sneer on their faces.
I was confused until I found Claire in front of me with a hateful smirk.
