“No, it must be the new sensible married version of you” I snort shaking my head “I’ll never be that sensible, what island are we on?” “Yours, our parents will go back and do the work when we get you sorted” “But I like doing work” “And I want a honeymoon” He snaps back, I screw up my nose “But what will we do?” He laughs shaking his head “Rest, make love, buy comics, watch movies” “But we can do all that at home?” He shakes his head at me, clearly getting a little irritated at me. “I know but you need to rest, especially with this, we don’t know how bad it’s going to get, the distance won’t do that much for you until we figure out what can take your pain” “Not a monkey; they throw poop, wolves have too many hairs and they live in a pack, if I get one it means I have to get more than that, I don’t like cats, horses freak me out, birds are too dusty and annoying, dogs need too much attention, lizards and snakes are gross. I still think we need to infect a doll” He sighs, just as the door swings open and mum comes in wearing one of dads shirts and some shorts, her hair was a mess but she looked almost glowing she was so happy. “What's up with you?” I ask her, trying to distract myself from my pain, she grins coming straight over and take a seat beside me “Today I woke up and guess what? She asks giddy, I shrug, not caring at this exact moment. “I realised I'm not queen anymore, I've been queen since the moment of conception, my entire life has been working on our kingdom, looking after our people and so on. But now I'm just a mum, a wife, all I need to worry about is you and dad and the family, you have no idea how freeing that is” I screw up my face, handing her my hand, my head could hardly focus on her happiness right now. “Please take the pain then we can talk, this is killer” She sighs, looking at me sadly “I can take the pain for now babe but it will come back in an hour, like it or not you need a pack” I groan, Branson kisses my temple then he smiles at me sadly “I know you don't want one but you don't even need to see it, it can stay with the pack's pack, you just need to connect to it then it can join my pack” He says it but I can see it's more a question for mum than it is a statement “Yes in theory but she needs her pack, her alpha, her beta, if you add them to Branson there will be a fight for control so I suggest the complete opposite, connect to an entire pack, move them onto mine and dads property, they will have their own space, their food and they won't fight with Branson’s” “An entire pack, and where the hell am I getting an entire pack from?” Mum smirks as dad walks in with a tray of coffee, he wore the same goofy grin as mum “We are going to use the wild pack on the property, they will be self-reliant and you won't even need to feed them, we have been stalking that property for years so we could eventually move them out and my pack in, when mine move in it won't matter because they are trained like guards so they won't be fighting for territory” “It sounds like the better option if I'm honest, we wouldn't even need to see them” Karma says, agreeing with dad, yawning and stretching inside my head, mum grabs my hand and straight away I can feel the healing powers flow through me, my body instantly relaxing against her touch. I smile nodding my head at dad “Fine let's do it” “Good, I already have the pack ready to go, all you need to do is connect to them” “Hang on, where the hell did you find them so fast, that property is huge?” It was an enormous piece of land, bigger than Branson's property and it grows every day, dads had been buying it all up for years, getting it ready for all the Lycans in the world that need our help, building a sanctuary where they will always be safe, but right now it was totally undeveloped and honestly wild. Miles and miles of forest and nature. “I set a trap, lots of blood, they came within the hour of the fresh kill, they are as wild as they come, we were going to move them off the property but then this happened so we decided to keep them. We are hoping when they connect to you they learn how to respect boundaries better” Mum says it like it's the simplest thing in the world “Ok so let's get connected so I can get rid of this pain and go back to work” Branson snorts shaking his head “Hell no, your taking at least a week off” I shake my head “No I'm not, I have meetings, deadlines, I have a lot to get done in the day so sorry but it's not happening” “Yes it is, you are staying here and that's just it, we are spending the day together then we are abandoning you here for 7 days” “Can you not just piss off now? It is our honeymoon after all” Branson says snapping at dad “And she is my daughter so suck it the f**k up, keep your thoughts clean or ill have Carly leave you on the moon” I gasp sitting up straighter “Now that sounds like an awesome honeymoon” “It's not happening” Mum snaps shaking her head “Fine but you can't leave us on an island with nothing to do, bring us to new york, anywhere but a deserted island” “You know it scares me that you are so afraid to be alone with me for a week” Branson snaps childishly, dad chuckles making mum slap him “It's not that, but the beach is boring, other than eating and swimming and you know…” I wink at him “There is nothing else to do” I finish, and he sits up and pulls me onto his knee “Well you have never been on holiday with me, give it a chance and if we get bored I promise we can go to new york or somewhere similar” “He has a point, let's just try it” Karma pleads with me, I sigh nodding my head “Ok, but now that the pain is gone I'm starving, can you please make your pancakes?” I ask mum, she grins jumping up and taking dads hand “Of course, rest up you need it” She winks at me, and dad smirks at me before leaving. Karma groans uncomfortably, feeling a little I’ll, she moans in discomfort “you know what I'm going to nap” I frown shaking my head at karma “What's wrong?” Branson asks as I jump out of bed and head to the closet to get a swimsuit “Karma is just acting weird, I'm lonely without her” “Why what's she doing?” “She just keeps shutting me out, she’s tired all the time and she just isn't herself” As I look up I see him silently debating something but honestly I was too tired to push the subject so instead I pull out my red bikini and I pull it on, adding sunglasses and I grab a wrap for my waist “At least there's one benefit to a deserted island, I can wear what I want” “Precisely why I’m so excited about it” He grins looking me up and down, the look on his face alone would make me melt under normal circumstances, but I know dads downstairs ready to jump in and ruin the moment so I peck him on the cheek and leave the room heading to the kitchen for breakfast. —------------------- “Baldy bags HURRY the f**k UP it's trying to eat me!” Branson screams from outside as dad sits on the deck laughing his a*s off, mum and dad had managed to wrangle the alpha of the wild pack, get a collar on it and portal it here so dad can connect us both but it was currently chasing Branson around the beach as he held it but dad was far too busy laughing to do anything but record the interaction. I slap the back of his head “Get it done before he passes out” “He needs the exercise, it will teach him to think dirty thoughts around me” “Carter would you be nice, I know he screamed at you and your pissed but he married her, he loves her and you need to let it go” Mum scolds him “When did he scream at you?” I ask confused, I knew something was up, dad has always liked Branson, and they have been known to have arguments here and there but dad had done nothing but t*****e him for around a week now “When you had the fight and we went shopping, it's not the screaming that pissed me off it was the fact he thought I would put you in danger. I would never do that and if I thought anything would have even had a chance of happening we would not have gone there” I frown at him “He was freaking out but you know he meant well” “I know but he still hasn't apologised” “I'm honestly not even sure he realises what he said. If he had no faith in your abilities to look after me he would have come for me a long time ago and as much as he was a spoilsport and always in my business he never second-guessed you or your abilities, he always stuck to the rules and never crossed the line. Just give him a break, that day was a bad day for him.”
