“Yes, when?”
“10 minutes, you good?”
He asks checking me over as mum jumps into action
“Wow wait they are coming in 10 minutes?”
Branson asks panicking, he must have seen it too.
“Yes, we need to go”
I tell him, taking dads hand and pulling myself up and off the ground.
“s**t, right, f**k”
Branson says running towards the common room and calling for the boys as mum runs past me into the office
“I’m blowing out your candle”
She calls, I nod, and stretch out, my head was pounding, and the blood in my veins pumped so loud it was almost deafening because my heart was racing so fast.
Dad rests his hands on my shoulders
“Relax, you were born to do this. Remember all those years ago when I said I was born to do this and you said no, you were born to do your part then your purpose was to have a kid who didn’t need to rely on anything but herself. You were born for this katiana, accept him or not, god made you for this reason, and he hasn’t set you up for failure he has blown our minds when it comes to you, we never thought it possible to be anything stronger than me or your mum but he made you and you have both of our strength. You were made for this moment and many more baby girl and there is no way you will disappoint”
If I wasn’t getting myself ready to kill a lot of rogues I might have taken the moment to choke up.
Karma had been pulled out of the back of my mind when the vision started, she was still trying to catch up.
My visions were different from dads, they usually happened in a dream so one like this was rare, so rare it’s only ever happened once before and that was a long time ago.
Branson turns to me
“Where are we going? Where do I send my men?”
“Don’t you recognise your border?”
Dad asks puzzled, he shakes his head
“Honestly I found it hard to even comprehend what I was seeing, it was a blur, I have no idea”
“South side, it takes a while to get used to them”
I tell him squeezing his hand, dad rolls his eyes so I flick him on the nose
“Stop being a baby”
Dad screws it up glaring at me
“Sorry I find it hard to take him seriously sometimes, especially when he can’t even learn how to block me out”
He snaps snidely
“Oh Jez are we still on this, can we please move on and deal with this when my pack aren’t about to get brutally attacked”
He shouts back at dad, I shake my head at them both, going to mums side as the boys emerge from the side room. All of them place a hand on her as dad and Branson go back and forth
“Can they seriously not drop it until we get home”
“You would think that”
I answer karma, getting sick of their arguing
“Would you STOP! Wise the f**k up and deal with this later! Get your damn heads in the game before your argument gets someone hurt!”
I snap at them both, they stop looking at me and then back at each other
“Fine I’ll drop it”
Dad gives in, he could be a real baby when he wants to be, he expects everyone to learn how to block him out instead of him learning how to block everyone out, he says it’s impossible but I’m not so sure.
“Well I don’t have a problem so I’m good too”
“Oh you have a problem, your a dirty-minded little pri—-“
“CARTER”
Mum warns, dad groans, crossing his arms like a baby and turning away to take a breath, this only makes Branson smirk wider, dad gasps turning back around
“Branson stop it!”
I warn him
“Ha see she even knows!”
Dad tells mum, I shake my head, taking Branson’s hand and I yank him over towards me shaking my head at them both, mum grabs dads arms and suddenly we are right at the southern border of our territory.
Some warriors who had already arrived jumped in shock. I wag my fingers at them before I close my eyes, feeling for the souls around me. Instantly I can feel them coming from the 3 different directions, pulling on the air around us I pick up the wind so it comes in our direction.
I turn and put my finger to my lip and then I point to my nose as the whiff of rogue makes my stomach roll. Then I point to my ear as more warriors emerge from the treeline.
I pull on the sound in the wind, vibrating the echo through the trees.
The eyes of the warriors widen, looking at each other as Branson points for a few warriors to go to the left and some others to stay on the right.
I turn back around and close my eyes, I could hear them now, they think they are quiet but the thumps of the ground vibrate loudly around us, I could feel the heat of their aura getting closer as they spread out and prepare to attack.
Instead of waiting I nod to both sides of me so, I know they are ready and then I use the trees around me to make vines, spreading them across the forest floor towards the rogues silently, I use the force of the wind around them to confuse them, making them come at us faster.
As they do, each of them starts tripping over the vines, as they stumble towards us I light both of my hands on fire, using it to flow from my hands like serpents, flowing through my fingers and keeping them close to the ground, using the water in the air to contain it so I don’t cause a forest fire.
It slithers along silently, Hiding in plain sight just as the rogue's roar, breaking through the treeline, all of them stumble when they see me, and just as they stop I attack, slamming my arms down with a force of nature that only I can manipulate, the snakes attack the rogues, as it touches them I use the wind to intensify the heat taking them down so fast they had no idea what was happening.
Their bodies scream as the flesh is melted off their bodies, those that managed to escape my fire were caught in vines, and that’s when Branson and my guards take off, leaping into the forest to kill the last rogues from the 2 groups.
“What the f**k”
A man calls from my side, his eyes were wide as he looked around, most of Branson’s warriors were just frozen in space as they looked on to watch the 50-60 men die before they even had the chance to attack
“You don’t even need us”
Another call, I point to the furthest point of the forest, deep within is where the others are hiding.
“40 are hiding in that direction, get in position and be ready to fight those I can’t get to”
They nod, changing areas as I feel the ground, I could feel the difference in rogues' steps compared to Branson’s and the boys. They were highly trained and light on their feet, the rogues were clumsy, and very little training had gone into their war plan.
“Keep at least 3, I need to know why”
I tell some of the warriors
“Okay, but honestly it’s like a civil war out there, there never really is a reason, plus the laws were changed so we kill off all the rogues that come through, save them going out and attacking the humans”
One man who seemed semi-comfortable in my presence told me, he looked familiar but I honestly hadn’t socialised with the pack much yet, they all seem to hate me, or maybe it was the fear of me but either way, I didn’t feel welcome Just yet.
“I get that but there must be a reason why they continue to attack?”
He shrugs
“Nobody knows, we have tortured many in the past, even the queen couldn’t find a reason for it”
“Keep some anyway, dad might have better luck”
He nods, calling out orders to the other. I could see the rest following him.
“He’s the unofficial beta”
Dad says behind my ear, I smirk up at him
“Oh thanks for the help dear father”
He shrugs
“Not much for me to do, it’s your turn to shine. They need to listen to you not me”
I snort shaking my head
