“Whatever, you're just enjoying being a freeloader”
He chuckles
“Well that’s just a bonus, get ready karma they are coming”
I frown at him, looking inside myself to karma who’s yawning, looking rather bored if you ask me
She flips him the bird shaking herself slightly, he chuckles going back to being an observer beside mum
“What? it’s a lot of effort to use this much power at once”
I nod stretching just as the new set of rogues are rounded up into the area in front of me, being chased from behind by our men and Branson.
As they approach I use the wind to turn them, Trapping them and stopping them from getting to the rest of the pack
Those waiting jump into the fight, some turning to me
“A little help?”
One blonde haired blue eyed beauty shouts at me, I smirk shrugging my shoulders
“Oh come on, I can’t do it all for you”
He glares at me, just as a rogue comes up behind him to attack, grasping the air in front of me I use my powers to pull all the oxygen from his lungs, collapsing them just as he thrusts the knife forward towards the man.
Using my other hand I pull on the wind around him, sending him flying back onto his backside, missing the knife by a millimetre.
The rogue falls gasping as I grab his wrist and twist it, breaking it. He tries to scream but he has no air left to do so, instead, he falls forward, face first and he collapses.
I reach down and heal him, paralysing him to the spot and I rip the knife from his hand and I pocket it
The blonde-haired warrior sat there, jaw dropped looking at me. He looked like he was in shock as he looks between me and the rogue
“You saved me?”
He stutters as I hold my hand out to him, helping him to his feet
“Of course, we are on the same team. Now move it, your friends need help”
He nods, white as a ghost. He turns and takes off towards his brothers and sisters, still fighting to kill the last few rogues.
From the corner of my eye, I see a woman who had been down on the ground, sneak off towards the pack-house.
I take off after her, she runs through the trees so fast it was hard to keep up.
“f**k this we are shifting”
Karma roars, leaping forward she shifts in mid-air, using her nose she immediately picks up the rogue's scent, and she takes off after her like a bat out of hell.
Whizzing through the trees so fast it was almost dizzying, but she doesn’t stop, not until she sets her eyes on her, she had made it to the treeline beside the training ground close to the pack house.
Before she has a chance to even decide on what direction to go in karma leaps on her, tossing her to the ground. She screams, thrashing about
“Noooo MATE MATE MATE”
Everything inside me froze, looking up I could see a young man around my age, maybe a little older staring straight at us. The girl struggles, trying to get out of my hold.
Karma growls, placing her teeth at her neck in warning. It works because the girl freezes just as the boy takes off towards me.
Aaron and Ella hear the commotion come from the packhouse, shouting for the boy to submit.
“He’s the pack we can’t kill him”
I tell karma in a warning tone, she was part of me and I knew exactly where her head was. She wanted to kill them both.
“I don’t care! He’s being disrespectful”
I roll my eyes at her, he hadn’t even said a word, he was screaming and heading straight for us but he hadn’t said anything troublesome ‘yet’
“Please no! Please don’t kill her luna please”
He screams, getting closer than karma was comfortable with him being, she growls; warning him and squeezing the rogue's neck. A move of dominance, making sure he knows we are in control of this situation.
He drops to his knees, tears streaming down his face and he bares his neck in submission.
“Please don’t kill her please”
He begs me, pulling on my heart. I look at karma. She wasn’t so sure. Instead, she reads her, taking any information that we could but it was clear she had a block up to keep us out.
“Katy wait, we need her”
Ella calls, karma's eyes snap towards her as Aaron pulls the shirt from his back and he holds it out for me. I look back to the boy who was still on his knees then I look down at the rogue girl, she was young, too young to die.
Karma paralyses her, before letting her go and nodding. The boy falls forward into the dirt and he starts to cry in relief
“Thank you, thank you”
Karma nods then she looks to Aaron who steps in front of the man, dropping the shirt at our feet. I look around before shifting and pulling it on.
“Just because I let her live does not mean I won’t kill her later. She has a block up in her mind, someone put it there. Until I can break through it and see what she’s like, she is a prisoner. You will be permitted to see her but only when there are guards around”
He nods looking at her
“Is she ok?”
“She’s fine, for now, I have sedated her”
I look to Ella who looks genuinely confused
“You can’t see the block can you?”
She shakes her head, stepping towards her and kneeling beside her
“No, how can you? It’s not visible?”
I shrug
“Not sure, I can sense it. The truth is hiding in there somewhere, I don’t even know if she knows it’s in place, she might have no idea. None of them do. whoever is sending the rogues is strong, they have something like magic, I can taste it but I’m unsure of what power it is. I need to consult the books and Derek”
I tell her, honestly, I was confused, just being around the rogues left a bad taste on my tongue and it wasn’t the usual rotten meat taste, this was worse, it was spiritual and it was strong.
There is a reason they are attacking and I needed to know why.
“Take her to the cellar”
I tell Aaron, he looks at the boy on the ground
“Come on, you can carry her”
His eyes light up, looking at me for confirmation. I smile nodding my head then I touch her, letting her wake up. I take the fear and her will to run away from her so he could at least have a conversation with his mate.
“Thank you, Luna, I’m in your debt and I will make sure everyone knows how kind you have been to me”
He tells me, reaching for the girl
“It’s fine, thank you. She’s probably tired but she can talk and she should be calm. I won’t kill her unless I have to, I promise you that”
He smiles, nodding his head and he follows Aaron towards the cellar as I look at a very confused Ella
“You ok?”
She smirks at me
“Oh I’m more than fine, but for the first time I just realised my time as leader is done, I need to make way for bigger and much better things like you and Branson”
I snort shaking my head
“Oh please, that’s not true, we will always need you. Now, can I borrow a pair of shorts I’m feeling a little exposed”
She chuckles, throwing her arm over my shoulder and she walks me back towards the packhouse, as I enter I groan, the smell of fresh lasagna and garlic bread hits my nose and my insides melt. An omega hands me some shorts before Baring her neck and silently leaving.
“Wow that smells so good”
I tell Ella l*****g my lips and pulling the shorts on.
“Good, everyone else will be back soon, Evelyn has been cooking all day”
I roll my eyes shaking my head
“You knew this was going to happen?”
She shakes her head
“No and yes, whoever is doing this can play with the blind spots in my visions but I knew something was happening when I had a vision of everyone covered in mud and blood”
“Well I ain’t complaining this looks amazing, do we have to wait?”
She chuckles shaking her head
“Nope, Evelyn is getting you a plate now”
I lick my lips excitedly as karma yawns going to the back of my head
“Laters dude, I’m too tired to talk”
She says closing the door before I have a chance to ask if she’s ok.
