“He put us here to keep you in line, we ain’t the humans, we are not easy to manipulate and our kind find it very difficult to change unlike them! So when someone dies it’s because it needs to happen, if you disrespect the only people keeping you safe then what will you do to defenceless humans in the real world? If you can’t respect your people how can you respect those weaker than you!”
I say it loud and clear so every one of them could hear me, scanning the area I nod to my guards who had been strategically placed throughout the crowd. As I nod they grab the woman in front of them and pull them to the front.
“Now tell me, what would you do if your mate at just 9 years old felt the betrayal of her mate every day for months and months? What would you do then?”
I ask the man at the back, he looked a whole lot paler since I started talking to him.
“Well go on, tell me what would you do?”
I ask again, he shrinks down at the back
“Do I need to send my men to fetch you too or are you going to grow a pair and speak the f**k up?”
I say sharply, I could hear our parents snort from behind me, but I ignored their amusement and watched as the man shook his head nervously
“No Luna, I’m sorry. Your correct, I’d kill them too”
I nod looking at the older crowd, they looked like elders
“Anyone else have a problem with that?”
I ask them specifically as they talk between themselves, finally, they seem to agree on something and they nod to the small man in front.
“No Luna, we understand completely and we support you. You should have justice for the pain both you and the alpha injured. I just hope and pray that when the pain is paid for, fewer innocent people will lose their lives”
I glare at the passive-aggressive bastard as Branson steps forward.
“Every death has been accounted for, each of them warranted. They broke our laws and as the law says I can kill them if I see no other option and at that point, I did not see another option”
The man who was now obviously the scapegoat looks back to the others who nod at him. He smiles looking back at us
“I’ll take your word for it, I’m sorry for the interruption, obviously I was wrong”
He steps back and he bares his neck, I nod and look back at the woman who now stood at the front, I skim through the crowd of them, pointing at the mated ladies.
“Pull them up please”
I tell the guards, and they nod pulling them to the front as I look at the others.
“Name, job and why you took part?”
I ask the 3 unmated women, many had died over the years, and none of them held company jobs, just the look of them made Branson cranky so he never employed them anywhere he had to see them often.
“I’m a nurse, my name is Jackie, I was young and stupid, I did it once but after seeing how uncomfortable the alpha was I left and never returned. I pulled myself out of the competition and I insisted that others do the same thing”
She tells me, and I look to dad who nods his head, they had no idea he could read minds so he would tell me if they were being honest.
“Apologies to the alpha properly, then go back to work, but if your name comes up again you will be punished further”
Her shoulders slump and she nods her head, tears in her eyes
“I’m honestly sorry from the bottom of my heart, what they did was wrong and I’m just sorry. For the pain, I caused you both”
“You're forgiven”
I say smiling at her
“What she said”
Branson says immediately then he nods to the guard who lets her leave, she rushes off stopping at the back so she could watch the others.
“You, same thing”
I point to the next one, she was chewing on her lip nervously as she lifted her head to look at me.
“Brenda, I work as a teaching assistant”
She drops her head and she sighs, I take the moment to look at dad who’s face was like a stone as he glares at her,
“And I didn’t do anything wrong, he was lonely, he needed someone when you were too young or whatever, I just filled in the gap”
Karma pushes forward, she would not show weakness in front of the pack but she was just about ready to kill her.
“I’m sure alpha remembers he wanted it just as much as I wanted, he promised me he would mark me then I never heard from him again, when I heard about this ridiculous poll I went to find him, and he tossed me to the side like garbage and broke my arm if anyone deserves an apology it’s both me and you Luna, he lied to us both”
I don’t move a muscle as I watch her face, she was spiteful and conniving.
“What a f*****g lying piece of s**t!”
Karma shouts into my head, I remain like a stone on the outside as I try to appease her
“Don’t count your chickens just yet, we can deal with him after, right now we need to be a United front”
She glares at me but not because she’s mad at me, because she knows I’m right.
Pushing forward she merges with me, suddenly the temperature around us drops as our aura shoots out covering the crowd.
“Is that so? Anyone else here share a similar experience? Now that we are here we might as well find out the whole truth—“
“Babe what are you—“
“—I didn’t say you could talk”
Karma spits back quietly at him, pushing her aura over him until his eyes nearly pop out of his head, everyone but my parents take a step back with a worried look on their faces just as hands pop up all over the place.
“You in the red, did alpha say the same thing to you, I’ll add you're not in trouble here”
I say smiling calmly, she swallows loudly
“He did but we were drunk, the alpha you know today is not that man anymore. Anything he said back then didn’t count, or to me, it didn’t anyway”
I look to dad who smiles subtly and nods his head so I smile back at the girl
“Thank you for your honesty, as for the rest of you? Do you all feel the same way, if you do drop your hand now”
The girl in front looks around smirking but as every single hand around her drops so does her face.
“So you're saying all these women had a one-night stand with a f**k boy who promised them the world, but THEY were smart enough to see through it but you at the front weren’t?”
I see Ella’s lips curl up when she realises I wasn’t about to drop Branson in it.
“Ehhh— ummm”
“Ehh— ummm— what? Cat got your tongue?”
“No”
She snaps so I smile nodding my head
“Oh, so you were just doing it to make me feel uncomfortable, to drop your alpha in it and make sure I knew what his past was like? You thought I didn’t know?”
I say chuckling
“I've known my entire life what my mate was up to, he never hid that from me, not from the moment we met. But he had made it clear that anyone like yourself might have had him for one night, 2 if you were really lucky but at the end of the day, when he woke up the next morning he knew you weren’t even worth the effort of breakfast. So say what you want about alpha Branson moon’s past but don’t ever think you were ever in my league, but that’s not what we are here to talk about, I didn’t bring it up because well, we all have a past, I’m not here trying to air out his dirty laundry, I’m here because a group of psychopathic ladies grouped together and tried to force themselves on a person who wanted nothing to do with them, I am here to w**d out the root and keep that special flower that managed to bud through all the rubbish, like Jackie back there, she’s respectful, she’s responsible, she saw the wrong and apologised unlike you Brenda was it?”
I ask pacing on the front step for dramatic effect, stopping in front of her I cross my arms over my chest and I look down at her purging my lips.
“It was wasn’t it, Brenda? Unlike you who not only didn’t own up or maybe that’s where I’m going wrong, maybe you are so f****d in the head that you can’t see right from wrong? Ehh”
I say shaking my head
“It doesn’t matter what one it is because either way your dead”
I nod to axel as he lifts his hands, grabs her head and snaps her neck in 2. I smile at her as he drops her in a heap on the ground, dusting his hands off
