THE PROPOSAL
Samantha William also known as “SAM”, a 25year old event planner from New York who had given up on love. Her previous relationships had left her heartbroken and uncertain about love, which made her focused more on her career instead.
One evening, as Sam was organizing a charity gala, she received an unexpected call from her best friend, Sarah.
“Sam I have someone I want you to meet”, Sarah Said. Sam wasn’t convinced, but Sarah assured her that this guy was different and. His name was Alex Anthony, a successful businessman man who is from a wealthy family.
Sam agreed to meet Alex, and Sarah arranged a dinner date at a fancy restaurant in Manhattan.
As Sam arrived at the restaurant, she was greeted by Alex, who was even more handsome than she had imagined. They sat down at their table, and Alex explained that he needed a wife to secure his position in the family business.
"I'm looking for someone to sign a love contract with me," Alex said, his eyes locked on Sam's. "It's a two-year agreement. We'll get married, live together and attend social events as a couple. In return, I'll provide financial support to your familv and help your event planning business grow by providing you with wealthy clients.
Sam was taken aback. A love contract? It sounded like a business deal, but not a romantic partnership.
But as she looked into Alex's eyes, she saw something there that gave her pause. It was a glimmer of hope, a chance at something real.
"I'll think about it," Sam said finally, trying to sound calm.
Alex smiled, seeming to sense her interest.
"I'll give you a week to decide. If you're interested, meet me back here, and we'll discuss the details."
As Sam left the restaurant, she couldn't shake off the feeling that her life was about to change forever.
Over the next few days, Sam found herself thinking about Alex nonstop. She researched his family's business and read articles about him online.
She couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards him. But she was also scared. What if this love contract was just a way for Alex to secure his business interests?
As the day of their meeting approached, Sam's anxiety grew. She didn't know what to expect, but she knew she had to make a decision.
On the day of their meeting, Sam arrived at the restaurant early. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves.
As she waited for Alex, she wondered what the future held. Would she sign the love contract and take a chance on Alex?
Or would she walk away, preserving her independence but potentially missing out on something special?
The door opened, and Alex walked in, looking even more handsome than before.
He smiled at Sam, and her heart skipped.
"Have you made a decision?" Alex asked, his eyes locked on hers. Sam took a deep breath. "I have," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Alex leaned in, his face inches from hers.
"What is it?" he asked, his voice full of anticipation.
Sam's heart pounded in her chest. She knew that her answer would change her life forever.
"I'll sign the contract," Sam said finally, her voice firm.
Alex's face lit up with a smile. "I'll make sure you don't regret it," he said, taking her hand in his.
As they shook hands, Sam felt a spark of electricity run through her body. She knew that she had just made a deal that would change her life forever.
Sam couldn't believe what she had just agreed to. She was going to marry a stranger, live with him, and pretend to be in love for two years.
As they left the restaurant, Alex handed her a folder containing the contract. "Read it carefully," he said. "We'll sign it tomorrow."
Sam took the folder, feeling a sense of fear. She was thinking what had she gotten herself into?.
The next day, Sam met Alex at his lawyer's office. The lawyer, a middle-aged man with a kind smile, explained the terms of the contract.
"Miss Williams , you'll receive a monthly allowance of $10,000," the lawyer said. "In addition, Mr. Thompson will provide financial support to your family and help your event planning business grow."
Sam's eyes widened as she listened. It was a lot of money, and the support for her family and business was exactly what she needed.
But as she looked at Alex, she felt a bit guilty and unhappy feeling she has done something wrong. She asked herself “was I selling myself short by agreeing to this contract”?. Well, after some thinking, Sam made up her mind and decided to sign the contract.
The lawyer handed her a pen, at first, Sam hesitated. But she thought about her family, struggling to make ends meet and her business, barely surviving.
She finally signed the contract, feeling a sense of relief mixed with feelings and anxiety.
As she left the office, Alex turned to her saying “welcome to our fake marriage, Sam. And they left.
Over the next few weeks, Sam and Alex started making arrangements for their fake marriage. They planned a small wedding, told their friends and family, and started living together.
At first, it was awkward. Sam felt like she was living with a stranger, and Alex seemed distant, preoccupied with work.
But as they started spending more time together, Sam began to see a different side of Alex. He was kind, funny, and genuinely interested in getting to know her.
As they sat on the couch one evening, watching TV, Alex turned to her and asked,
"So, Sam, what do you like to do for fun?"
Sam smiled, feeling a sense of ease with him. "I love hiking, trying new restaurants, and practicing yoga," she said.
Alex nodded, his eyes sparkling with interest. "I'm more of a city guy myself, but I'd love to go hiking with you sometime."
As they continued talking, Sam realized that she was actually enjoying Alex's company. Maybe this fake marriage wouldn't be so bad after all.
But just as things were starting to feel comfortable, Sam received a call from her best friend, Sarah.
"Sam, I have to warn you," Sarah said, her voice sounded so serious. "Alex's family is not what they seem. They're powerful, ruthless, and will stop at nothing to get what they want."
Sam's heart skipped a beat as she listened. What has she gotten herself into?, Sam asked herself.
Sam’s conversation with Sarah left her feeling uneasy and unsettled. She couldn’t shake off the feeling that had she made a grave mistake by getting into a contract love with Alex.
After some days, Sam was able to stop herself from thinking about what her best friend Sarah said. She decided to focus on what was ahead, which was getting to know Alex and his family. Despite the marriage being a fake one, she also wanted to play along and see where it would lead to.
As the day goes, she was gradually getting to know Alex, what he’s favorite meals were, what his likes and dislikes were, and so on.
Even though you don’t get to know a person that fast, she decided to take it one step at a time.
Most times, Sam would wonder if she made a mistake by getting married to Alex, but as she thought about the benefits of their arrangement, Sam pushed her doubts aside. She would make this work no matter what.
