Project Schemer: Higeki's chapter: Requiem

Chapter 1 - Epilogue: Subterranean Mansion.

Compare to our old home, the ruin and the secret garden is visable so it took about 15 minutes to get to the ruin. The atmosphere in the secret garden is great as always, the air is better and somehow a lot of different plants are able to live here. Also a rare place in this world where mask isn't needed and people can breath whenever they like, in the middle of the garden is the ruin. The ruin is a part of the largest building in the age of glory, the time when Altoris is a paradise, everything and everyone lived in harmony and the value of each individual is appreciated. Compare to this reality, that is nothing but a dream, a far away dream, the deliverance we have been waiting for, but a dream will remain as a dream for eternity. The ruin feel like a maze with a lot of different roads and corners, at least the road is straight and there is no complicated mechanism.

Korvos have a lot to explain but everything he can say is the deepest part of ruin have the answer i am looking for. The ruin or that is what it called isn't a place where terror reign and everything is covered with mist but it is countless of corridors layered with cobblestones. The wall is layered with countless of carving, to produce one of these carving took a lot of time and work, but the carving describe a lot thing in the past and walking in these hall is the same as reading history book. 

So this is the reason, the moment we are soft then that is the moment everything fall, no one know will the invader come back or not and in this world where magic and miracle can't exist. Maybe the ruin will explain the true meaning of my existance as someone who could bring the end to this world. To fought against the invaders as a world or to die slowly with the world, either the choices, there is no happy ending. There is no way for us to escape this tragedy, every direction is filled with despair but i believe there is a third choice, i lived in this world for nearly sixteen years, there is always a third choice.

The depth of the ruin is a mansion but it is not ruined or covered in dust but the mansion is spotless, every ceramic titles, every walls, every roof titles, they are spotless. The mansion is large but there is only one bedroom, other rooms is filled with all kind of art, paintings, musical instruments, fabrics, clothing. There is a large room for library and another room for stargazing. A garden behind the mansion and a room with a lot of sculptures, every room is swept and dusted to spotless, after wandering the mansion i felt a hand on my shoulder.

"It is really rude to enter someone house without their permission you know ?"

"My utmost apologize but it is simply tiring when a voice keep whispering in my head tell me i have to be here on time."

"Yes, that should explain everything, please follow me, there is something in master's room you want to read."

"Thank you but can i ask for your name ?"

"I am not worth mentioning, i am just a simple old butler, i am here to keep his legacy remain untouched, you are here because you are special so i want to ask for one favour."

"Please don't mind me. I can lend an ear."

"Please keep this trip as a secret, i don't want my master's legacy touched by others."

"They shall never know, you have my words."

"In the name of my master, you have my utmost gratitute."

The butler is old but with the current state of the mansion and the state of the ruin, i can only presume the fact that this butler is immortal. I have no such desire for that, death is the fear always exist as a burden to our mind but to live forever and see everyone you love fall before you is the fear i can't accept. And what is the benefit of living forever in this ruined world, to enjoy the cold wind ? To wander the street and witness faraway or to drown yourself in sorrow ? 

The master's bedroom is simple, much more simple than other room before, a simple desk, some shelf and a bed, everything is very simple. According to the butler, the master of the mansion is a man who love and devote everything to arts, the mansion accepted all form of arts and every artists is appreciated to have their work displayed in these hall. On top of that, the master also buy and supply a lot of creators with resources and everything they need to complete their work. The butler is hired to keep the every works in its original state and that duty bound him to this mansion, he can't leave but i presume he doesn't want to leave in the first place.

Those who transcend space and time and reside within dream, so our first and second option all end with terrible ending while the third option is nothing more than a far away dream. What a cruel joke, or to say the least, that is equal to in your dream, so this is how hope slowly fade away but the butler remind me something. Those transcend dream can exist, even immortality exist in this world and maybe the library can help me with all those information. The mansion have one large library and that is everything i need for information, with the butler's permission, i am allowed to go to any gallery or the greenhouse as long as i don't damage anything. At least with the current state of sector 15 i can stay a little longer in this mansion.

"Do you need anything else ? I can prepare food and drink if you need but it will be vegan since according to what i know about above, most of animals are extinct and meat are synthetic and to get good quality, you have to be a member of the city leaders."

"I am fine with vegan. I will study for a little longer, knowledge is power afterall."

"Then i will excuse myself."

"I wanted to ask something, who was the master of this house ?"

"My master never reveal his name, he only wanted to call as sir and that is how i always call him."

"Thank you."

The butler leave me in the library, with all the books, everything about the history of Altoris is revealed, the age of glory, the fall, the ruin and even the war before the age of glory. But there is nothing inside that book mention the savior or his true name, the savior identity remain hidden and i only can presume he isn't the master of this mansion. The butler is immortal so the savior appear in the carving, with his personality why he didn't choose that path and dominate everything. Those who transcend space and time also called the authors, they are the original creators of every worlds, so the savior could be one of those authors. So there is a way to contact these authors, at least that is hope even it is nothing more than a far away light but at least something to cling on.

Let make this my mission, find a way to contact these authors meanwhile keeping my job as a doctor. The mysterious voice isn't a bad person just a little bit out of touch with reality, then let's see if the authors really exist or not. But if this voice found me then there must be reason, i am here for a reason and these authors can tell me more about that. But what is Korvos and Alpha truly hiding ?
