A Very Complicated Life

I sit down in my desk in homeroom talking to Taylor Thompson, Angel Gray and Joshua McKenzie.  "Hey girl," Taylor says elbowing me. I blink and look at him. "Where did you go? You zoned out and didn't even notice the sub calling you." I look to the front of the class and see my brother standing there looking at me. He smirks and I freeze. I blink and try to shake off the feeling of undeniable love swirling through my chest. "Yes?" I say to him politely. "I was taking attendance and you didn't even blink. Do you mind sharing with the class what was so interesting to you?" he says smirking, knowing I was thinking of something s****l by the extreme blush, my rapid heartbeat, licking of my lips and the slight stutter. "N-no, sir. Just some issues at home." "Okay. Try to focus on your teacher next time?" "Yes sir." "Okay. Leigha is here. What about Olivia Carter?" The most popular girl in the school. The blonde. The head cheerleader. The one who sleeps with every guy on the football team. The b***h. The bully. Your classic piece of s**t with money and power. Her father is the principal and her mother is in Paris doing fashion shows for the next 12 years. We used to be friends in first grade but she snapped one day and was a b***h every day since. It was quite a piss-me-off-and-spread-rumours thing. She never picked on many people. Just me. Mostly about my body though. I am extremely curvy and slightly overweight. You're classic fat b***h, but instead of being stupid like most, I'm actually advanced. I already did two years of college through an early college program. After I graduate in a year, I'll be going to NYU. I'm studying to be a journalist. Plus, a model secretly. I knew as soon as that got out then I'd be screwed. The many dumbasses who actually followed Olivia, Liv, and the lost puppies who'd bend over anyway she needed to please her all stared at her as she smiled flirtatiously at Jax and he just blinks. I hold back my smart remarks of jealousy as she sits at the perfect angle to show off her small breasts.  "I am here. So very, fortunately. This lot is a tad bit crazy," she flirts. He just looks at her like she's not even important and I furrow my brow in confusion. He nods and finishes taking the roll. He then gives us the assignment to write a summary of the book we were to read over the summer "Evermore." I get out a pen and paper and begin. Is anyone done?" he says looking us over but lingering on me. "Yes," I say and slide my paper to him. He glances down and reads it. "Good job Miss Black. You're allowed on your phone or to the library in the back. Your choice." I nod and pull my phone out as he leaves and Liv glares at me. I ignore and look down at my phone as Jax sits at the desk in front of the class. He takes his phone out as I put my earbuds in and turn my music on. Hey, he texts me. Hey, I text him back. Are you okay? No. What's wrong then? It's nothing. When you say that, it means it's something and is usually a lot so spill. It is nothing, Jax. Come on L. Tell me. Why should I? Because you're scaring me. Oh! He has the audacity to say he has emotions?! Come on sis. Please tell me. You are honestly scaring me. It's nothing to be concerned over. Are you jealous? No. Why would you ask that? Or think of it? You're jealous because that blonde flirted with me, aren't you? Why does it matter to you either way? It's not like you can do anything about it. I can. I'll make sure she stops and understands that I don't want her. And just exactly how are you going to do that? By proving I'm saving myself for someone else. Oh sure. I am. You aren't saving for anyone. I am. Oh yeah? Tell me who then. I can't. Why not? Because. That isn't an answer. Because I don't want to get in trouble when others find out. Or to get her in trouble either. Who is it?! You. I look up and see him looking worried as I blink and my heart slowly starts to pound faster with every passing second. He watches me with hope and fear in his eyes and I sit there for a second, shocked. Let's talk about this at lunch. Okay. Meet me here at lunch. We can talk here. Okay. He puts his phone down and I sit there listening to my music with my eyes closed and my back against the back wall.  [I can't believe he likes me.] I think. [Why hasn't he ever told me before? Did he notice my attraction to him? How much does he know? Does he like me or just my body?] I ignore the stress headache as it starts to form and instead listen to my music. I can feel his eyes on me and know that he's concerned but won't show it. I sit there relaxing and fall asleep pretty quickly.
