A Very Complicated Life

Chapter 2-The First Night

What had he meant when he said that he was going out? He only ever went out with his friends and they always came over to see us, not him going out and meeting them somewhere. Something was wrong. And me being me naturally decided, let's follow him, so I did. He ended up going over to Samuel's, one of his friends that I was raised with. And here I presently am, sneaking to the back yard where I saw them go. I look around the corner and see Samuel, Daniel, Michael and Shawn standing at flank behind Jax. Then, there are seven other men on the ground tied and gagged and blindfolded. I watch as Samuel rips the gag and blindfold off the farthest guy and he looks terrified. I look closer and freeze. 

[Wait. That's Delta Rigger. What is he doing here? And why is he being treated like a prisoner? This doesn't make sense.]

"Why are you here?" Jax growls in an animalistic way as he stands in front of him with his arms crossed.

I can feel the fear rolling off of Delta Rigger as he stares Jax in the eyes and spits at him. Jax growls and snaps his neck instantly. I let out a quiet whimper and the boys look over just after I get back behind the wall.

"Samuel. Go check and see what that was."

"Yes, Alpha."

I hear him jogging this way and turn to run to my car but run into a solid wall. I see Alpha Jordan, alpha to the Delta who was just killed. I go to scream but he hugs me to him while he has a hand over my mouth and he sinks into the darkness of the wall as Samuel runs past. He looks around for a bit, then, leaves to go to Jax. I ignore the solid part of the alpha against my ass. He hauls me off the ground and over his shoulder as he covers my gasp with his other hand and walks back toward my car. He sits me down in the passenger side, locks the doors and starts the car silently. He speeds down the road and back onto the highway.

"What you saw is a war between mafias. He killed my Delta and is probably about to kill my Omegas too. Now. Why were you even there?" he growls and I can tell he's angry, pissed really.

"I followed Jax there," I answer honestly in fear that he might hurt me for lying or know if I'm lying.

"Why?"

"He's been acting strange here lately. I wanted to see what was going on. And now I have."

I look out my window as tears flood my eyes.

"Why are you crying?"

"Because he killed a man and I felt his fear and pain as he died. Any sane unnormal person would cry."

"You what?"

"Is it not normal to feel people's emotions?"

"No, it isn't. Even in the wolf world."

"You could be an Empath. Or just simply a wolf with powers."

"Woah. That is so not possible. No," I start chuckling and he c***s an eyebrow smiling at me.

"What's funny?"

"The wolf part."

"Why?"

"Wolves have to shift every full moon. I have never shifted."

"Your wolf could be dormant. Protecting from a traumatizing memory."

"Even with my wolf being dormant, if I had one, then I'd still have to shift on the full moons."

"You sure do know a lot about us to be a human."

"Well. I grew up with Jax and his friends. I helped all of them through their shifts. Except for Samuel. He refused. Locked down and wouldn't let me in his emotions or his thoughts."

"You just keep surprising me over and over."

"Thanks."

"I wonder what you are."

"I have no clue. But I am not a wolf."

"Maybe. Maybe not."

"Hey. Where are we going since you kidnapped me and am holding me hostage?"

"I'm not holding you hostage. I am saving you."

"How's that?"

"Because he's already f****d you which means you were next on his kill list. He tells all the girls that he loves them and asks them out. Then he sleeps with them and murders them after the second time. He kills the whole family in the process."

"How do you know this?"

"Because my sister's friend did. She was killed as well as her brother and mother, who was pregnant. He killed that child and then moved on to some other woman."

"So he repeats this? What all did he do to them? What conditions were they in?"

"Odd questions to be asking."

"Just answer."

"Okay. The girl, her throat was clawed past saving and her heart, kidneys, livers and her ovaries. Then the boy was missing his heart and gallbladder. The mother was missing the child, ripped from her and eaten so we assume, and her heart, ovaries and kidneys were gone. Why?"

"Because he's not a wolf. None of them was ever wolves. They're Wendigos."

He looks at me shocked and out of nowhere, the car is thrown through the air. I scream in pain as I go through the windshield and land on the pavement. I struggle to sit up and growl frustrated. I look down at my stomach and see a huge piece of glass sticking out. I reach and pull up. The glass comes out, cutting my hands in the process. I scream out in pain as I hold my stomach with the arm that isn't dislocated. I look at my car and see it upside down with Alpha Jordan being dragged out of the broken window growling and snarling. I see a bunch of glass in my thighs and the screaming in my head picks up even worse, like a high pitch moaning scream. Beckoning me to go taste the blood pouring out of Alpha Jordan as a huge wolfish creature eats Alpha Jordan's heart. I ignore the pain as I lift off the ground. I slowly start to back away when it turns to me and snarls. I look into its hungry, angry, wounded grey eyes and suddenly feel the threat lessen. It moves toward me and I turn and run. I run for a good five minutes before I'm tackled. I scream out as the glass in my thighs pushes further in. I hear a growl and feel claws start to go into my back, right where my heart is, but I hear a howl and the screams triple in my head, forcing a whimper out of me. Suddenly a huge black beast lunges and wrestles with the Wendigo. I get onto my knees and look back as I try to crawl away. I glance back and see the beast rip the Wendigo's throat out. I freeze and watch as the, now dead, Wendigo changes back into Jax. I feel my heartache and then the beast looks at me with sad red-golden eyes. It walks over and I try to get away but it grabs me in its huge hand easily. I scream out as the screams in my head get loud enough that I blackout.
