My blue moon fate

My name is Remi, I live in a small mountain town in Colorado. I have three brothers, two older ones who are twins, Carter and Caleb, and a younger brother, Zander. I am just about to finish the school year and turn 21. Oh, and my family are all werewolves except me! You see, I come from a long line of wolves. My dad and mom are wolves and their parents and their parents and so on. We live in a town that is consumed by my pack, the Kuu Creek Pack. I was supposed to get my wolf on my 16th birthday, like I watched happen to my twin brothers and my best friend, but I guess the Moon Goddess forgot about it. Flash back Tomorrow is my 16th birthday and when my wolf will come. I am lying in bed thinking about what it will be like, what her name will be and what she will look like?! My twin brothers, Carter and Caleb shifted a few years ago on their 16th birthday and it was amazing, even their wolves are twins! As the questions continued running through my brain, I faded off to sleep. Am I dreaming? What is that horrible sound? I thought to myself. Oh my gosh, it's my family. I opened my eyes to see my brothers,mom and dad standing at the end of my bed attempting to sing me awake with happy birthday. “ Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you…….” I started to laugh, “OK, OK, I am awake, that is enough.” They stopped singing and started laughing as well. My mom walked over to the bed with breakfast in hand. “ Happy birthday, sweety” she said as she kissed me on the forehead. I quickly ate my food and jumped into the shower to get ready for school. I am so excited, I get my wolf today! School went by faster than I thought and when it was finally over, Millie, my best friend and I ran back to my house to get ready for my birthday dinner. We ran through the door and up to my room to change. “ Hurry up girls, everyone will be here in an hour”, my mom yelled from the kitchen. We were already halfway up the stairs. As I came downstairs dressed in my spring dress and turned the corner, I saw, through the back door, that my mom had set up dinner in the backyard. She has hung up some pretty tea lights in the trees and has two long tables put together to accommodate all of us. “ Mom, it is beautiful!” I said while turning to look at her. She has tears in her eyes and is holding a large salad bowl, staring at me. “Mom you are going to get tears in the food”. I rolled my eyes at her. “ You are so beautiful, sweetly. I can’t help it, my baby girl is getting her wolf today and turning 16!” At this point, Carter has walked in and has taken the bowl from my mom as she is full blown crying now. “Mom, get it together,” he laughs. People started arriving. Millies' parents are first, Beta Taylor and her mom Cayla. Next, Alpha James and our Luna, Lilly. “Happy birthday, Remi,” Alpha says to me as he is walking through the door. “Thank you Alpha, Luna” I bow my head, as does the rest of my family, in respect and to say welcome. “This is our son, Nolan” they said as a young boy, most likely my age, walked through the door. I smiled and shook his hand. “Hi, I am Remi”. He is staring at our hands. Alpha James clears his throat, which seems to snap Nolan out of it. “ Nice to meet you and ummm happy birthday” “It looks like everyone is here. How about we head to the table for dinner?” My mom said. We all headed outside to the beautifully decorated tables. We all sat around the table and the conversation started. Everyone is telling stories about their first time shifting, about their wolves and about the Moon Goddess. My younger brother Zander and I listen intently. We have made our way through dinner and it is time for dessert. I am getting nervous and excited, once the moon is up is when it'll happen. I am barely here when everyone sings happy birthday and we eat peach cobbler and ice cream, my favorite. “It's time” my dad said as he stood up. My palms are sweating now and everyone is looking at me. Millie walked over to me. “Ready!” I stood up and let her and my mom lead me down into the yard, where I would be the most under the moon and I had enough room to shift. Our yard faces the lake where I can see the moon's reflection in the water. My dad was right, it is almost time. The moon is almost at its peak, the Moon Goddess should give me my wolf any minute and I should shift for the first time. One minute to go. OK, the moon is at its highest, it is time. I closed my eyes and waited. And I wait.And wait. Nothing. The night that the Moon goddess was supposed to give me my wolf………she didn't.
