Taking stock of Allison.
Allison looked down in disbelief at the troughs before her. Her whole body ached, trembling with her exhaustion and from the rigors of this impossible day that she had endured. Left alone once more, she turned her attention to the bonds that held her in place. Her hands explored the cuffs that held them. The one with the long chain had been wrapped around her neck a few times. She could now feel that the chain between the ones on her hands had been passed through its cuffs. Her heart leapt as she discovered that the cuffs of the one on her neck could be moved, but then it fell just as quickly when she discovered that, while they would close tighter, they would not go the other way.
