Cacus
A fire-respiration creature Hercules
(see Heracles) encountered throughout his Tenth
Labor. Classical sources are Livy’s History
(1.7.Four–15), Ovid’s Fasti (1.543–582, five.643–
652), and Virgil’s Aeneid (8.190ff). The story of
Caucus is a Roman addition to the myths of the
Twelve Labors of Hercules. In Hercules’ Tenth
Labor, he turned into sent to fetch the farm animals of Geryon,
a triple-bodied warrior whom he defeated. The
herd of lovely cattle have been pushed by means of Hercules
from Erythia (modern Spain) thru (inside the
Latin addition to the tale) Rome. According
to Livy, Ovid, and Virgil, Heracles encountered
the farm animals thief Cacus in Rome. In Livy, Cacus
