a native of the city of Askra. Unlike Homer,
Hesiod well-knownshows factors of his existence and private-
ity within the first man or woman; as an instance, he has a
brother, Perses, with whom he had a dispute
over inheritance, and he gained a prize at a
poetry contest at a pageant. Hesiod’s two foremost
extant works are Theogony and Works and
Days. Hesiod’s Theogony and Works and Days
exemplify two awesome poetic modes: Works and
Days largely worries the labors and rhythms
of human lifestyles, even as the Theogony is worried
with the introduction of the sector and technology
