Long ago when the four rivers were one they made up this whole ocean called ever oasis. They all lived in peace and harmony praying and singing to the gods. That was until one chief’s broke the rules and killed his mate no one knows why he killed his mate. Mates are giving to everyone when you come into this world you can’t change who you get but it’s love at first sight. Well that’s what I’ve been told this happened 3,000 years ago oh I haven’t introduced myself Hi! I’m brella I’m 1,000 years old crazy right ya. 2 months earlier “Tag your it Mace!” ( swims away) “ Grrahhh I wasn’t ready yet I was doing something!!!” (Swims after her) “ Stop being at gubbyfish and catch myself which you’ll never do because you’re slow!” “ I’ll catch you this time and you’ll be sorry I was about to ask Areiel on a date, and you ruined it.” “Well my coming of age is coming up and I’ll be an adult so I’ll be able to date too!” (Stops swimming looks mad) “ No you won’t either” (stops swimming) “Why not I’ll be an adult so I can find my mate then.” “That’s right you have to save yourself for your mate not date around” (looks mad) “ You date around so why can’t I?” “ (shaking head) “ it’s different I’m not kissing or touching I’m dating for fun to practice for my mate” “ I don’t get it?” “ I’m doing stuff with girls that way when I find my mate I’ll impress her with my knowledge” One thing in the river’s knowledge is attractive to women and men the more knowledge you have the more your wanted as a mate but the gods decide who you get so it doesn’t really matter how much knowledge you have. “ ya sure Mace we all know you how you get all the knowledge that way you’ll end up with Areiel. Areiel is the popular girl that everyone guy wants with her lavender hair with a little bit of yellow and pink eyes with her green scales and her curvy body. It makes me so jealous sometimes but I’m just as beautiful with a curvy body and green scales with a hint of blue and white and black hair my eyes are two different colors one orange the other sliver. I don’t look like anyone from my river not even my parents. When I said that to Mace he looked at me and smiled it kinda hurt that he wanted to be with her so much that he would pray to be mated to her even though I’ve prayed to be mated to him. I’ve loved him since we was small gubbies learning how to hunt but he never felt the same I’ve always wanted him to smile when thinking of me that way but he never did because it’s convinces that him and Areiel are mates I don’t see how he can know when he hasn’t gone though the coming of age yet. Areiel has gone through hers last year and still hasn’t found her mate so three things that could’ve happened one her mate died, two hasn’t come of age, three in another river. Mace is hoping that he’s Areiel’s mate but I want him to me mine. “ who knows hopefully it’s her but if it’s not meant to be I guess I’ll reject them” I paled reject them rejecting your mate is forbidden but some do it in private that way they don’t get kicked out of the river. ( swims away) “Brella!” Mace yelled while I swim away. I can’t really get mad yeah I’ve told him that I’ve loved him but he took it as friends love. Day of coming of age “May-May I’m so nervous” May-May is my best friend since we was gubbies too but we are closer then me and Mace. “Mace” I whispered “ Brella I know you loved him but he’s been going around Areiel more and more since you guys fight”. Hearing that I felt my chest stinging it’s been like that since our fight. “ He wants her not me” I laugh sadly “cheer you Brella you can find your mate today” that’s right I can find my mate my other half. Sitting up straight “May-may fix me up” she knew that I was hurting but she made my black and, white hair shine and braided is to the side and made my eyes pop more with the purple shells. Pink shells in my hair and a red top with black skirt to go with it I looked hot with all different color shells and coral in my hair and face. “you’ll make him regret his words and actions” “ No May-May I’m going to find my happiness not to make him regret” She looked shocked “Your giving him up?” “ Yeah I think I will” “why?”. “Because I don’t think we are mates” Swimming out of my room with the other girls we soon met the boys at the doors to the gardens I feel warm for some reason the other rivers are here as well. The boys from the other river keep staring at me The doors open my father of the green river chief and the other river’s chiefs are here. We all swim out my father speaks “Welcome to the green river and congratulations of coming of age it’s a special occasion you get to find your mates, and some of you will leave the green river with your mates today you’ll be missed but I pray to the gods for your happiness”. My father looks at me my heart breaks a little I want to find my mate but I don’t want to leave my family. Standing up straight the ceremony begins the moon is shining so full all of a sudden I feel like crying it hurts so much it seems I’m not the only one in pain my fish scales feel like they are being ripped off of me I feel like I’m dying but then it stops. “Congratulations you’ve been connected to your mates” I looked around excited to find my mate “Mate” I hear May-May growl out this boy is saying the same thing he’s from the blue river. I’m happy but sad my best friend is leaving I looked around to find Mace he’s with Areiel he’s angry she found her mate and it’s not him. I’m happy I look away and go look for my happiness just then I feel a hand on my shoulder I turn around nervous I looked up and saw it was James shocked when he says “Mate” I can’t help but smile and say “Mate” kissing him. James is my mate I can’t believe it my childhood friend but he left when his father from the purple river came for him I thought I won’t see him again. Pulling away he purrs he’s more handsome then before I can’t help but blush “ I’m happy your my mate Brella” “ when did you get back James?” He doesn’t get the chance to answer when Mace rips me out of his arms and kisses me pushing him away “ Mace what the f**k is wrong with you” He looks like I stabbed him “ What do you mean your my mate but your kissing him!” I froze I’m his mate. “ James is my mate Mace I think your misunderstanding” he takes my hand and my breathe stops the sparks he’s really is my mate. James come over and grabs his head and the eyes widen he realizes what happening “Two mates” he whispers.
