 Recap:   “Boarding pass, sir.” I handed the ticketing agent my pass. “Thank you, and that’s the first time.”      “Pardon?”      The agents took off her hat and showed her face. It was Lady Teresa. “One more time left.” She put her hat back on and allowed me to pass through. I walked forward, reminding myself she had to work, and I can’t see her now.    ~  I boarded the airplane, alone in my section. Someone slid into the seat next to me. “And that’s the second time.” the passenger said. She took off her hat and revealed her face. “I hope you keep your promise, Eugene.  Because you’re not a slave anymore in Canada. And I’m not a lady either in that land.”
