Blurb

Trapped in my own world of coffee and rising sunsets, the shadow of a crescent moon on the horizon silently warned me about a different air entering the town. Wondering, mesmerized by the purple hue between the clouds, I kept my hands on my pockets, looking for something I knew wasn't there.. The key of the cafeteria was nowhere to be seen, the jitters kept rising up as I -subconsciously, tried to recall where I left them- when the bell of the door rang slowly.

My ears caught up at the sound of her footsteps. How i recognized the scent of dirt, and dried rosemary, and those sweet layers of a familiar perfume kept appearing. Gummy bears, rum, ink, herbal shampoo. Turning my back away from the windows, I still didn't dare to truly see her. Something about her was drowning my senses. Wiping the sweat from my hands, a silent challenge entered the room. Light sweat covered me. I had found her.

Foreword.
Warmth is not fun when your body temperature is unusual. You become a mess of exudation and impatience. - f**k. I need ice cream- The young man next to him complained, half irritated- What about you, man? - but also half chirpy and smiling. - No. My skin stands out in this black and white uniform, handsome, am I right? - J theatrically pulled a pose that the other does not take. - Yes. Especially that aroma of no shower for a month. - Wait, wait, dude, stop! - nervously laughing, the serious grip that J held onto Carlo's left no trace of doubt that the older had been practicing his mind dominance. – You are killing me! - You would know if I did, I am calm on your lately kind of lame demonstration of strength- J replied sneakily, a carnivorous smile of warning. - You sugarcoat your words too much, Mr. pompous.  - I beg your pardon? - the grasp took another level of force. - Fine, fine. Please let me go. - As you wish.  - Would you go back to work? You have some unfinished recipes to try. Now. And you have to sleep, Carlo's. If I find out you are drowsy tomorrow, I will make sure you walk to deliver instead. - No place to argue in Dr. Nolan's voice.  Now retired, always proven to own a very vivid and stable voice that left no room to reply a vocal back. There was no need to raise his voice. Instead, the deep tones behind it made sure you had eye contact, nodding with respect on this territory.  The expression on Carlo’s face truly deserved laughter, that even J would not dare to let out, but as soon as the man left, J’s face turned mockingly towards his friend, who would know that J goofy manners would also make him laugh, so he passionately avoided looking.  Clear on boundaries and the evident youth compared to the boss, J started cleaning the counter, bored, knowing his friend would leave.  Carlo´s struggled to close his backpack and left a pair of keys next to J. - Well, that was close, holy s**t. Before talking, J pointed at him, serious.  - Do not curse at my table, young man. - Now, did I say anything at all? - “Close” - emphasized with his hands- He was there to choke our necks at the moment. That is why I told you we were not supposed to be chatting here at 5 pm. You think I am still an employee here because I do whatever? No. I am here because I learned how to calculate my breaks. - And? I have to deliver tomorrow very early, drama king. Make sure to close the gates!  - Be safe, weirdo. - You too, sweat bag. Everything about this afternoon felt unusual. No one to be seen in the streets. The silence of the breeze, overwhelming. And those dark purple clouds. Usually, there were red, blue, and orange palettes that colored the village night sky.    As outstanding as it was, recalling the whole feeling of it, J opened the front gate with a smile for his now starting the night shift.  The rain rumbled behind his back as soon as he half-closed the gate behind him.  He did not bother turning all the lights on. Silently wished that this day there were no customers at all, just him and the thunderstorm bringing life to the chaos that formed on one side of his skull. The front bell rang as the speed of his thought. A tanned woman in a trenchcoat entered the local, out of breath. Well, maybe just this customer.  - Good evening! Sorry. I am clogging the whole place. I can help you clean up. -No, why would you? - J moved fast towards the towels and gave her one- Welcome, what can I help you? - A big, warm cup of latte. Very sweet. Late, I know. - This is a coffee place, lady. I am here to give life to your wish. Delighted about her change of air, turning on the machine, J tried to breathe correctly, knowing she had this mesmerizing expression that made him drool. Aware of his heartbeats, swallowing, he endured the urge to wipe the sweat on his pants. - So cool, where did you learn how to use it?  - Trust me, I am still getting the hang of it. - Do you feel serene working so late at night, windows that exposed? -I feel like the night is adequate. And you? It just feels more relaxing. The sound of the night - He placed the mug in front of her, holding his breath. -It is a little different for me.- Pleased to receive such a pretty looking cup, inhaling the aroma, she tried not to smile so widely while drinking quickly. J did not felt comfortable. All his senses burned, hands itching, and all his attention focused on her. Attacked by the urge to know, what was her name? How did he never saw her? Why was her curly hair so enchanting?  Stepping back, he grabbed the mug when she finished. She placed the exact amount of money on the counter, right on top of the folded towel.  Trying not to stare, he failed when both visions collided slowly as she stepped to the door. He felt like those seconds were slow, but so fast at the same time. - Is there something else I could help you with? - Can you? - If I am able to. - Well then… No. Have a good night, J. The thunderstorm had stopped.  Wondering, fascinated by the magic her gaze held, he kept his hands on the pockets, looking for something he knew wasn't there. The key of the cafeteria was nowhere to be seen, the jitters kept rising up as he -subconsciously, tried to recall where he left them- when the bell of the door rang slowly as she closed it. His ears caught up at the sound of her footsteps. He inhaled so slow, and powerfully, recognizing the trace. The scent of dirt, dried rosemary, and those sweet layers of a familiar perfume put him on a spiral of memories. She, the combination of gummy bears, rum, ink, and herbal shampoo. Turning his back away from the windows, he still didn't dare to truly see her. Something about her was drowning his thoughts, scattered all over the place.  Wiping the sweat from his hands, a silent challenge entered the room. Light trembles overwhelmed his figure. He had found her.
