Riley beep ...beep ...beep This is the sound that keeps playing over and over in my head. I feel myself coming back to consciousness. Already, I feel my head is pounding before my eyes even open. The brightness of the room floods my eyesight and sends a pain shooting through my skull. I feel this odd sense of emptiness. I move restlessly trying to will my body to move the direction that I need it to. a sudden panic groups me when my arm moves over my stomach. My flat stomach. Reality comes rushing in like a tidal wave. Then I remember the fall. That pain hits me in the gut like a sledgehammer.
