KIARA'S POV
Four months. It had already been four months.Sometimes, I still couldn't believe it.Four months since my life changed forever.Four months since I met Kael. And four months since I discovered I was carrying two little miracles.
Despite everything that had happened the visions, the attacks, the fear of the coven and the uncertainty surrounding my powers those four months had become the happiest months of my life.
Because somehow…I had found a family and I had found love.
"Stop smiling like that."
I laughed and looked up.
The pack's witch doctor sat across from me with an amused expression.
"What?"
"That smile."She smirked.
"You're thinking about the Alpha."
Heat rushed to my cheeks.
"No, I'm not."
"Child, I'm old, not blind."
I laughed softly.
"Fine maybe I was."
She chuckled before her expression became serious.
Immediately, my smile disappeared.
"What is it?"
The older woman sighed.
"Do you know how long you've been here?"
I frowned.
"Four months."
She nodded.
"And how long have you been pregnant?"
"Four months."
Her eyes darkened.
"And that concerns me."
Fear gripped my heart.
"Why?"
She stood up and approached me.
"Because your pregnancy is unlike anything I have ever seen."
My breathing became uneven.
"What do you mean?"
She gently placed her hand over my stomach.
Her eyes closed.
Moments later, they snapped open.
Shock filled them.
"No…"
"What?"
"No."
"W-What is it?"
She looked disturbed.
Deeply disturbed.
"The energy."
"What energy?"
"The babies."
My heart pounded.
"Are they okay?"
"Yes."
"Then what's wrong?"
She hesitated.
"Nothing is wrong with them."
"But something is wrong with the timing."
I stared at her.
"What are you talking about?"
"Kiara."
Her voice became grave.
"It's been four months the twins should not be this developed."
A chill spread through my body.
"What?"
"They are growing far too quickly."
Fear flooded my chest.
"Too quickly?"
She nodded.
"Much too quickly."
"But…"
"I've examined you three times this week."
"Every time their growth accelerates."
I felt dizzy.
"No."
The witch doctor grabbed my hand.
"Listen to me carefully the babies are healthy they are strong,Stronger than any children I've ever sensed."
"But at this rate…"
Her voice trembled.
"You may give birth very soon."
My eyes widened.
"What?"
"No."
"No, that's impossible."
"Not impossible."
"Unusual."
"But not impossible."
I stood up immediately.
"No."
"No, no, no."
Tears filled my eyes.
"It's too early."
"They need more time."
"They're not ready."
The witch doctor looked sad.
"Child…"
"I've never seen anything like this."
"Not in all my years."
"But these children are special."
I held my stomach protectively.
"No."
The twins kicked.
Hard.
Almost as if they heard me.
Tears streamed down my face.
"They're not ready."
The witch doctor looked at me with sympathy.
"Perhaps they are."
"No."
Another kick.
And another.
I swallowed hard.
"What if they come?"
Her expression changed.
"The coven."
Immediately, silence fell between us.
"They're waiting they want the babies and once they're born…"
Fear shook my entire body.
"They'll stop waiting."
The witch doctor slowly nodded.
"Yes."
My knees nearly gave out.
"No."
Her eyes filled with concern.
"Kiara”
"No."
"They'll come."
"They'll hurt them."
"They'll hurt Kael."
"They'll kill everyone."
The visions flashed before my eyes.
Blood.
Fire.
Death.
Kael lying lifeless in my arms.
"No."
My breathing became shaky.
"They can't."
"They can't."
The witch doctor held my shoulders.
"Listen to me."
Her voice was firm.
"Nothing you saw is written in stone."
"But they're real."
"They are possibilities."
"They felt real!"
"They are warnings."
Tears rolled down my cheeks.
"I'm scared."
"I know."
"I'm so scared."
She hugged me gently.
And for a moment, I let myself cry.
Because I wasn't scared for myself not anymore I was scared for my babies.
And for Kael.
Because I had finally found happiness and the universe seemed determined to take it away from me.
Suddenly
The witch doctor stiffened.
Her arms froze around me.
I pulled away.
"What is it?"
She wasn't looking at me.
She was staring at my stomach.
Her eyes had become wide.
Terrified.
"Mother Goddess protect us…"
My heart nearly stopped.
"What?"
Her voice came out as a whisper.
"They know."
I blinked.
"What?"
"The babies."
She stepped back.
"They know."
Fear gripped me.
"What do you mean they know?"
She looked genuinely frightened.
"They can hear us."
I froze.
"What?"
"The entire conversation."
"No."
Her eyes trembled.
"Yes."
My blood ran cold.
And then
Two tiny voices echoed inside my mind.
Clearer than before.
Not faint.
Not weak.
Perfectly clear.
Don't cry, Mommy.
Daddy will protect us.
I gasped.
My hands flew to my stomach.
The witch doctor stumbled backwards in horror.
Tears filled my eyes.
Because I heard them…I heard my babies.
And judging by the terror on the witch doctor's face…
She heard them too.
And somewhere far away deep inside a hidden temple dozens of candles suddenly ignited.
Ancient witches fell to their knees.
And their leader slowly smiled.
"The heirs are awakening."
"Prepare everything."
"Before the Alpha realizes…"
