She refused
Lincoln carefully looked for the perfect parking spot in the Mall's parking lot. He was beyond himself. He was so happy and elevated. Linda finally agreed to go out on a date with him. He's been in love with her for as long as he can remember and she has always turned him down. They grew up together in the same hood and he has been in love with her since day one, they were only four years old the first time they met. Lincoln hid his childish love till they were 15. Linda turned him down mercilessly. He was so heartbroken that he fell ill for a month. Now they were 26 and this is the first time he's ever had a chance to even sit close to her. Lincoln was an employee at an organization. Although he wasn't rich, he was good enough in terms of money. He wasn't driving the fansiest car in town but he has a car. He wasn't living in the biggest house in town but he has a house. He wasn't wearing the most expensive things but he wears good things. But to Linda, that wasn't what she wanted. She wanted a very rich man, someone with power, fame and everything. She didn't want a boring life. She only agreed to this because she was bored at home, and she was single at that moment. So, why not dupe this guy for a while, she thought. Lincoln got down calmly from his car and helped Linda out of her seat. "Thank you. So where are we going?". Linda asked. "Ohh, we're going to the restaurant at the Mall. It's called.." "I know what it's called. Why can't you take me to a real restaurant" Linda asked. Lincoln was speechless. He was normally a talkative but around Linda he's a... dummy. They both walked speechlessly into the Mall and up into the restaurant. He's more boring and unromantic than I thought, no sweet words, no compliments, boooorrrrriiiinnnnggg. Linda thought. Should I compliment her?, should I say something sweet?, Should I help her with her purse?. Oh God help me. I don't know what to do. That was Lincoln's thought. "Hello. We have a reservation, Mr and Mrs Chris" Lincoln said as they walked in to the restaurant. "Yes. Follow me sir and ma'am". "Why did you say we were a couple" Linda asked as they followed the man leading them to their table. " Just to make the reservations easy". He replied and winked. After they were showed their table, they sat down and looked at the menu. A tall waiter came to attend to them. Ohh he's very hot, Linda thought. "May I take your orders" The waiter said. "Yes. I'll be having fried rice and fried chicken. And she'll be having..." "I'll say what I want to have" Linda stated, like she was going to pay. "I want chicken soup for now" "Ok ma'am. Your orders will be here in a minute" he said and winked at Linda. So the feeling was mutual. Linda quickly brought out her personal card and held it in her hand. Before long, the same waiter arrived and put down their food. Then, Linda carefully slipped the card into his hand. He smiled at her and she smiled back. Poor Lincoln was busy thinking on how to propose to Linda. He knows it's dumb and stupid to propose to someone you're not dating and knows doesn't have mutual feelings for you, but his dumb head won't give him the right advise. Lincoln and Linda eat quietly. Lincoln was the first to finish his dinner, when Linda saw that he was done, she also left her food. She didn't want him to think she was hungry or anything even though every cell in her body loved the soup. But, a lady's gotta act like a lady. Lincoln paid on their way out and off into the Mall they went. Lincoln and Linda shopped and shopped for two hours. It was fun. Lincoln has summoned a little courage and he was able to compliment Linda anytime she tried on a new outfit. They laughed and laughed all evening, Linda forgot she about her promise to be cold and rude towards him, they talked and talked till they were ready to leave. When they got to a crowed side of the mall, with people at every angle. This is right, Lincoln thought. He stopped Linda and stood in front of her. He went down on one knee, brought out the most expensive ring he could afford and put it up. "Will you marry me?" he asked. People had brought out their phones and were recording. "Say yes. Say yes" they muttered. Linda almost burst out laughing. He took her out on one date, just one and bought expensive stuffs for her, just once and he expected she'd want to marry him!". Nah... she wasn't that kind of girl. "No" She said really loudly. Almost way too loud. She held the stuffs they bought closely and walked out of the mall. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Lincoln covered his face in disgrace. Meanwhile Mr hot waiter was done with his shift. like it or not, he picked Linda up and off they went. Overambitious Lincoln summoned the courage to stand up. He's heartbroken..... but he deserved that.
