Drew pov I won't be giving my title away until you 3 knuckle down! Alpha David yells at the Triplets. Typical Friday family dinner. We have all already eaten and just when we are itching to leave, uncle David starts to lecture the boys on their duties to the pack. Yes, the boys will be 18 in a few weeks and their training will step up to cover pack business, policy and pack-pack politics, but they are only 17. They still need time to be 17. I mean uncle David lectured them when he caught them checking out a female warrior's ass. I've seen almost every adult at the table, man or woman, mated and unmated, gay or straight looking. There's nothing wrong with looking as long as you are still respectful. I'm not sure why he is so hard on them. I like to think I was mature for my age, but I was no different. That is enough, David, says my mum forcefully. I smiled. My mum is the only 1 in the pack who stands up to David, it's always been that way. Maybe it is because she was a bitten wolf instead of born. It wasn't instilled in her from a young age to have blind respect to blindly follow her Alpha. I also know the start of their friendship was difficult at best, but now uncle David deeply respects her. Our pack often calls her Luna despite dad being a beta. With uncle David being mated to another alpha male, uncle Chris, she is the pack's mother figure and highest ranking female. A role she takes very seriously. I have had just about enough of you taking every family dinner lately and turning it into an awkward lecture. It makes everyone uncomfortable and ruins the night. The triplets are not acting any differently from any other 17 year olds and nor should they. They are not going to be the pack leaders tomorrow, they have time to grow and make mistakes. Hell I know you didn't become a fair and just leader overnight, you were closer to 30 before you figured your s**t out. Everyone here knew what she meant but the air was still sucked right out of the room. As always, I looked over to aunt Kate and lilly to see they both had small smiles or smirks and their faces while staring at their plates. Uncle Jason just looked tired. I know he came from patrol to dinner. Dad was trying but failing to hide his laugh while uncle Chris was staring at David waiting to see if this was about to blow up or if he would check himself. Uncle David and mum stared at each other for almost a full minute before uncle David just looked away and sat back in his chair. Mum then had a huge grin on her face. She won. Again. Now, Mum said. I want the 3 of you to clear your afternoons tomorrow. You will be meeting me to discuss your upcoming party. Since you are all turning 18 and can find your mates, we will be hosting several other packs for a rather large gathering. We have a lot to discuss. Myles, Tyler and James all looked up adoringly and nodded. The triplets then got up and started clearing the table. We call them the triplets because they are closer than brothers. Tyler is my brother, while Myles is our future alpha. My mum carried him for uncles David and Chris as well as their daughter Ellie. Aunt Kate had delivered James the same day, within minutes of Myles and Tyler being born, in fact. Then we were all raised in the pack house together. I know people must think I'm jealous that my younger brother is going to be Beta and not me. But I'm not. I remember wishing to be a wolf as a child. I was around 10 when I went to my mum's and asked if she would turn me when I turned 18 so I would be like her. That is when she sat me down and told me about the Moon goddess. The moon goddess had promised a favor to my mum for 1 in return, that me and my sister would be gifted wolves at 18 if mum would bring the new generation of leaders into the world. She told me that the triplets needed to be born and lead together and in return I would have a wolf but no claim to the beta position, that I, have a different destiny. She then told me I had to keep it between us and the moon goddess. That was hard. But I did it and I got my wolf Blane on my 18th birthday. He was magnificent, a deep grey with bright green eyes. I grew up knowing I would get a wolf and I was grateful. I never wanted to lead, just to be like everyone that I loved. After I shifted, dad and uncle David sat me down to tell me I wouldn't be beta. We sat down and I remember their shocked faces as I put my hand up to stop them before they began. I don't want to be beta. That is Tyler's destiny . His future. I have no intention of taking it away. I'm not yet sure what mine is but I know it's not as beta of eclipse. I could feel the tension evaporate from the room as my dad and David looked at each other . Dad smiled so broadly I could feel how proud he was of me. I went and spoke to Tyler as well. Of course, Myles and James were there just to reiterate that I had no intention of becoming beta that I respected that it was Tyler's position and had no feelings other than to be proud of my brother. I'm quite close to the triplets. All of them have come to speak to me about girls, school or pack pressures. They are all like my little brothers. Although lilly, May and I are like our own group of 3, I know everyone was disappointed when lilly shifted the year after me and we weren't mates. I was kind of glad despite loving her, it was always platonic. I know that would have changed if we were mates but I didn't want it to change. I looked across the table to see her already looking at me. She raised her hand to her face, raised her index finger under her nose, where she had drawn a mustache. I shook my head and chuckled at her. She has always been Lilly my best friend, from when we were 3 and 4 and she has been a ball of energy to now as one of our most respected badass warriors. I'm glad our relationship didn't change. Jason, who banged his hands on the table like a drum and said we should head off. Dad nodded his head. I gotta pick up the girls. He is, of course, referring to May and Ellie who had gone to visit Silver moon, uncle Chris's family and old pack. It was meant to be just Ellie since it's her grandparents, but May jumped up at the last minute and decided to tag along. I know she is hoping to find her mate. I keep telling her she is still young. She just turned 21. She has time. Her dad didn't find mum until they were in their late 20s but she really wanted what mum and dad have. I understand why they are the perfect couple. It probably doesn't help that she never got to know our bio-father. He died when she was a baby. Not that I remember him much either. I was young as well. Our parents have always been good at talking about our father with us. When we were young, mum used to take us to the ice cream shop and we would all try our father's favorite ice cream as a tester before choosing our own flavor. She always used it as a way to talk about our father in a fun and age-appropriate way, her words. Just to show us it was OK to talk about him and ask questions. Ryder joined in, he started a running tally on the best cookie and cream ice cream. We would go to a new ice cream place every month just to try it and grade where it sat on our tally. The best 1 we found was a little shop in California. We had gone on a vacation and went to Disney. While we were there, we tried 5 different shops and found 1 that has not been beaten since. It was a good bridge, we knew it meant May or i could go to Mum with questions or talk about our father without dadyder being angry or upset at us for it. I love my parents fiercely, they love me more. I head to the stairs and lilly catches up with me . Hey want to go to the club tonight? she asks. There's a shifter club the next town over, only about a 20 minute drive from our pack, of young warroirs as well as other packs and supernaturals go to. I smile. Yeah sure I say. Meet you down stairs in 60. she says as she gets onto the elevator. I almost never use the elevator. If I only go down 1 level I roll my eyes at her laziness. Tyler pov I heard lilly and Drew making plans to go to the club. Damn. I shot Myles and James a look and shook my head. We had planed on sneaking out to go to the club tonight. Technically we can't for another few weeks since we are only 17 but the club is for shifters. The rules are pretty lax. We have been going every few weeks since we turned 16 but never when our siblings go. I know Drew would be fine with it as long as we didn't start any fights, but lilly... it would depend on what mood she was in. She is fun and pretty chill most of the time, but sometimes I think she resents that the 3 of us lead and not her and Drew. She hates that she wasn't first inline for gamma because she is a girl. I'll admit that is 1 thing we are still very traditional on, im sure some would say it's sexist. It's only because our women tend to leave their packs to go to their mates' pack, which would leave packs with leaderships problems. Most high ranking females tend to be mated to high ranking males from either their pack or another pack. It's why we all thought lilly would be mated to Drew. Drew has never cared about leading, he has been just happy to be a wolf since he was born human. lilly is one of our fiercest warriors, but i know she can also be so funny and goofy. I know she will have a great mate out there. I have no doubt that it will be a high-ranking wolf, she will end up leading a pack still. Like my mum, super fierce and although no one would ever admit it, she rules this place, I see that as lilly future. If lilly was in a particular mood she would tell uncle David, then we would never hear the end of it, so we didn't tell her anything. He is already such a hard ass, I chuckle as I remember talking to my mum about it. I hope to god he was a i***t at 17 like everyone else. I'd hate to think he has had a stick up his ass that long. That's my mum, never 1 to mix words. She is beloved here. Don't get me wrong, uncle David or alpha David, depending on his mood, is a great alpha. He takes care of every single pack member, he doesn't look down on omegas and pays them well. He is loved by our pack just in a different way. He is fierce and can be scary, which is great for alpha especially since so many questioned his right to lead without a luna. I know the council even came to check on the pack after he came out. After mum gave birth to Myles for uncles, the council butted out as there was a alpha lineage still. Other packs have come under the guise of a meeting or alliance negotiation to test our strengths, but after meet with uncles, dad and mum together, they all left with their tails between their legs. Myles came over with James following close behind. I heard one of the human girls from school is throwing a party tonight. We could always go there? James said. Myles thought about it, he disliked hanging out with the human girls, they all tried to hang off of us. We are typical werewolf teens. All over 6ft and the muscles of human males are much older than us. Human girls don't understand our ways, they want to date and have relationships. Not a good idea for wolfs before they meet their mates, it can only end badly when they basically ghost the girl when they find their mate. Myles doesn't want the headache, he only has flings with wolves from other packs. Wolves, who know what's going on, that it's only a 1-time thing or short fling. It's either that or we stay in playing video games? I added to sway him into the party. We could always ask alpha to run us through some pack stuff instead, James said, joking. HA! said Myles. Alright, human party it is. We leave him on the top floor of the pack house to go down to the beta and Gammas levels to get ready. I spied James freezing taking a big breath before going to his room. I see him do this a lot, he is taking in my sister's May scent. He has had a huge crush on her for years, but she is 3 years older than we are, so she hasn't paid him any attention. I know he is hoping she will be his mate. 3 years age difference for mates is not much, but for a relationship when 1 person is under 18 would be frowned upon at best. He knows that, so he has never even flirted with her. I didn't have the heart to tell him that May went to Silver moon to start her mate search. I sigh as I enter my room for his sake I hope they are mates or that he atleased finds his mate before she does. He is going to be devastated if she isn't his mate, but it would destroy him to watch her find another as her mate. I was able to shower and get ready in 20 minutes, James and I are having a quick snack in the kitchen while waiting for Myles. he always takes the longest. Mum and aunt Kate walked in. boys, looking very dapper tonight, Aunt Kate says. MuuM no one says dapper. James says, rolling his eyes. Don't you roll your eyes at your mum James, says my mum, with a stern voice. sorry luna. James says as I chuckle. and you! She turns to eye me. Where are you going tonight? She asks Just to a party in the human town. I said casually, with a shrug. Don't let any humans drink and drive. I know they aren't our responsibility, but I couldn't live with myself if something happened to a child, especially if one of us were there and could have stopped it. Mum says. She is, of course, referring to one of May's friends from high school. Before May got her wolf, we didn't know for sure that she would get 1 like Drew, so she hung out with a lot of humans. May didn't like going to parties much. She wasn't there ,she much prefers bonfires. One of her friends got drunk and drove home after her boyfriend broke up with her. She crashed her car. I remember how cut up May was. She cried for weeks. Mum was just as bad. Of course, she was sad for the girl and her family, but mum's kryptonite had always been her children, so when May was hurting, so was mum. When mum is sad, the whole pack feels it, the pack felt like it was under a storm cloud for 3 weeks. Until dad came in and got them both out of Mays bed. He made us go for a picnic down by the lake. I don't know if it was dad or the outside, but i know the whole pack felt the cloud lift when mum shifted into her wolf again. Drew walks in and gives mum a kiss on her cheek. Then looks at me We're going to be at the club, if you need me call and I'll be there. It's not far from any place in that human town. he says to me. I nod as mum walks back out with Kate. Drew steps closer to me. I mean it, I don't know why, but I just have a feeling. If you need me, I will be there. Don't drink too much. Yes, your wolves, but you have actually got your wolves yet, so you don't have limitless tolerance. I rolled my eyes playfully. Yes, Big Brother. He grins back. lilly comes down and they leave before Myles is even down. A woman who had to do make-up and hair and a wardrobe change was ready before our soon-to-be alpha. I chuckled to myself. He finally sauntered in, still fixing his dark brown hair. Alright, let's go, we don't want all those girls dancing by themselves. James scoffs and grabs his keys. As soon as we walk out of the house, I feel a chill, like someone is watching me. I looked around but I didn't see anyone. I'm letting my brothers' warning get the best of me. I shake my head and jog to catch up with the boys.
