Frustration

Lucien was sitting at the VVIP lounge in his favorite club, Dark Night. The VVIP room is a circular room on the 2nd floor with floor to ceiling glass walls overseeing the dance floor. He was brooding over a bottle of whiskey. There were many beautiful ladies, scantily dressed around his club, but nothing could pick him up from his current mood. One girl in particular, Lana, who wore a super short silver dress with a deep V neckline reaching all the way to her navel was trying her best to get his attention. Three years ago, she had slept with Lucien and, since then she has been trying to get him to bed her again but to no avail. She is hoping that if she can get his attention, he might choose her to be his chosen mate one day, since he is already 35 years old and has not been able to find his mate.

“Bro, what are you doing? Moping around like someone took your favorite toy” exclaimed James, Lucien’s Beta and best friend. “Can’t you see all these half-naked chicks trying hard to get your attention. Just pick one or two of them for a good f**k and you will feel better in no time”, said James.

I’m not interested James, just leave me be. In my current mood I am not very good company.

James could sense that his friend was not his usual self. “What happened in the meeting with the werewolf’s council, bro?”, asked James while picking up a glass to fill with whiskey as well.

What do you think James? Since my 36th birthday is coming up in 6 months’ time, they are not happy that I have yet to find my mate. They insist that I have to take a chosen mate by then as they want an heir to the Red stone pack soon.

“What the f**k is their problem, dude. Red stone pack is yours and why are they meddling in matters of no concern with them”, James said.

Unfortunately, as the largest pack in the US, there are many packs hoping to take over the pack. Without a Luna by my side, there are rumors that a few rival packs are keen on attacking. To avoid any unnecessary war and power grab, the werewolf council insist on a Luna, to strengthen the pack and prevent this from happening. Father agrees with them as well.

“But bro, your parents have always supported your decision to wait for your fated mate, why the sudden change”, James asked in shock and slumped onto the couch. Father believes that 18 years is too long to wait for my fated mate, that she may already be dead. James kept quiet after hearing this and Lucien continued brooding in silence.

Since Lucien turned 18 and gained his wolf, he has been looking everywhere for his fated mate. His mother organized many balls for unmated wolves as well as had him attend balls in other packs with hopes of finding her, since she was not in his pack. Lucien's final hope was to search for his mate in the werewolf realm and he had hoped on doing so when he was invited to attend the late king's funeral. Unfortunately, on the day of the funeral, a rogue clan attacked his pack with more than 500 rogues involved. The cause of the battle is still unknown and being investigated by Sean, his brother. There were many casualties, mostly from the enemy side on that day, but needless to say, Lucien had to put his trip to the werewolf's realm on hold. He has since requested entry to the realm to pay respect to the princess but his application was rejected by her mate due to security reasons. Therefore, he finally accepted that he would not be able to find his mate, destined to remain alone and hoped to pass the alpha title to his younger brother, Sean. Lucien always believed that the moon goddess chose a true mate for each wolf and by accepting a chosen mate, he would be disrespecting the goddess herself.

Lucien had dreamed of having a true mate since he was young. He grew up seeing his parents, William and Sarah have the most perfect relationship, raising him and his brother with so much love and support. His brother Sean was also blessed with a fated mate about 5 years ago when he was 26 years old, and he has never seen his brother so happy. He knows deep in his heart that he will only be complete once he finds her, and he is not planning on giving up on that, no matter what the werewolf’s council says.

The only problem now was to convince his parents and his brother on his plans for Sean to take over the Alpha position in Red Stone pack on Lucien’s 36th birthday. Sean is strong, intelligent, and loyal to the pack as such, he would be the perfect candidate to replace him. The council and his parents may need some time accepting it as Lucien is known to be the strongest alpha in over a century. His sheer strength could take down an entire pack on his own. He has stopped many wars and upheavals caused by the rogues in the New Jersey territory and gained respect from all the other packs in the surrounding area due to this. Sean who is also the Red stone packs advisor, helped in achieving the success they have today and should be able to take over the pack that he has helped to run for the past 8 years.

To distract him from his misery, he looked down at the dance floor and noticed Lana looking back at him with a seductive look. He remembered sleeping with her a few years back which was one of his biggest regrets. He was drunk and frustrated at not being to locate his mate in another ball organized by his mother. She was a convenience there at that time to help vent out some of his frustration. Since then, she has been trying to get close to him in every possible way, during pack trainings and even turning up in places he frequented outside the pack. He had explained to her that he was not available and told her numerous times that she should look for her mate instead, but nothing changed.

Sean noticed where Lucien was looking,” Bro, she has been showing up here almost everyday looking for you,” sighed James. I have tried telling her to move on but I don’t think she is keen on listening to my advice. If I were you, I would be a bit careful around this one. She gives me the crazy vibe. Lucien just nodded and continued to drink his whiskey. He knew that tomorrow he will have to have a lengthy conversation with his parents and brother regarding his title and he is pretty sure it will not be too pleasant. Moon goddess I hope you hear my prayers and send me my mate one day as I will always be waiting for her.
