Years of experience were telling Andy Ross that the man who'd killed and butchered Frances Daley had killed before. There was something too clean and clinical about the whole scenario that had presented itself to him and his team that morning. One of the first things he'd asked of Paul Ferris on his return to headquarters, was to check, using HOLMES (Home Office Large Major Enquiry System), the national police database that could identify similar crimes committed anywhere in the country, to see if any similar murders had occurred anywhere in the UK over the last five years.
As Ferris ran his check, Ross gathered the team around him in the briefing room. This case was far from the usual murders they were called in to attend.
