'The Doctor' wasn't particularly happy. After sleeping till 3 pm, (after all, it had been a long, tiring night), he rose and enjoyed a late breakfast/brunch, call it what you will, he thought.
He had his radio tuned in to BBC Radio Merseyside, expecting to hear news of his 'love affair' with Frances on the regular news bulletins. What he didn't know was that the Merseyside Police's PLO, (Press Liaison Officer), George Thompson, had reached an agreement with the radio station, with BBC TV News Northwest, and with the local press via The Liverpool Echo, to release only limited details of the crime in their later news bulletins, to give their officers a chance to notify the victims next of kin, before they heard it over the news.
