“What do you mean? Darren goes to school outside of Boston, he can’t always come to our games or whatever.” I was genuinely confused. “Kal you are the smartest person I know, but absolutely dumb when it around to your feelings and the feelings of others.” Diego sighed out. “Wait what?! No, I’m not. I give yall advice and helped everyone that asked for romantical advice and they got the person they wanted, I would say that I am not dumb.” I argued back. Diego shook his head, “I said that meaning you know how to help people, but you choose to turn away.” “Why are we even talking about this? Did someone say something?” He shook his short brown hair, “Nah, you told and showed me your journal and Darren is still single.” “DIEGO!” I shout at him and he simply shrugged his shoulders at me. “Come you’ve been telling me about the daydreams and wet dreams you’ve been having of him. How he takes over your mind in the middle of class.” Diego started listing as he continued to inspect his nails. “I- I. I’m not gonna fight the fact that I really care for Darren and I’ve liked him since sophomore year, but you know every time I catch feelings for people, especially guys, I kinda get f****d over...” There was Tristen, my first boy bestfriend and we liked each other then he goes to high school and gets a girlfriend, then Trent rejecting me and going after my now sophomore friend, then Mark ghosting and rejecting me, then Sparrow only trying to use my t**s to get off, and other experiences. That's why I tried forcing my feelings for Darren down. I don't wanna catch feelings for someone and they don't return it. "Kal?" Diego asked softly, I smile sadly and shake my head at him. "I'm fine babes. Just thinking pretty much anyone else would be a better fit to be with Darren than me. As long as Darren is happy and safe then I won't be able to get hurt." I walk over to the microwave and put in the food. "Kalina, babes, come on trust me you never know a person's true feelings unless they tell you. Just spend some time talking to Darren and maybe things will be different. You're giving yourself less credit than you deserve." I smile at Diego and my phone vibrated several times, "Ohh I wonder who's texting you." "Probably Yas spamming my phone. You know...," I trail off as I see texts from D saying she was home. Cat texted sent a text saying she was home, but she was typing something else. Yas was blowing my phone up, but it was of the pictures we took and other things. I almost dropped my phone when Cat said she knows I like Darren. I THOUGHT I WAS DOING A FAIR JOB OF HIDING THAT! I scream in my mind. Then Darren texted me that he got to his dorm in one piece. I replied to everyone except Cat. "Diego, Cat knows." "Good she'll help you too cause she was in the same boat as you." "DIEGO!" He shrugged and was typing on his phone, "I'm adding her to the call and Yas." I couldn't even yell at him not to, cause this always happens, Yas and Diego are my best friends so that was a given. "Hey, guys," Cat said as we all got on the cameras. "The three of us know about Kalina's crush on Darren and it is our job as her friends to help," Diego said and Yas' eyes slightly widened, and looked at Cat. "Ohh this is gonna be great. Cat knows how to deal with s**t like this." Here we go. I sigh as I go to my dining room table. "Give me a second. Imma call my parents to let them know I'm home, then yall can scheme." I didn't give them a chance to say anything as I hung up to call my parents. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I finished eating and called my parents as I begin writing as Diego and Yas caught Cat up to speed. "That thick ass journal Kalina carries around is all about Darren? Oh, Kal you need to tell him, you've used more than half of that notebook." Cat cooed, "Baby you've got it badddd." "Yea yea, I know. I'm more content with writing and sketching Darren in this thick ass notebook." I say continuing to write about my day with Darren and the conversation we were all having. "Know what Kal? I know exactly how to help you. Trust us, night beautiful!" They hung up and I was left alone, before hanging up and getting another facetime call I blinked in confusion and shrugged answering it I see Darren and I almost threw my phone. "Hey, Darren." WHY ARE YOU FACETIMING ME?! "Hey, I'm about to play a game, wanna be my facetime buddy?" "Yeah sure, I'm surprised you didn't ask D or someone else." "I like talking to you, we can talk about other topics like, what do you think of the PS5 and new Xbox coming out?" "You mean the wifi router and mini-fridge? They look interesting and I heard the graphics are supposed to be better along with a new GTA game." "You seem to know about the wifi router and mini-fridge as you call it. If you had to choose one which one would it be?" "PS5 in a heartbeat, but I would wait for the second wave to get it so it's cheaper." "Good point, cause with my job and paycheck, I would have had to wait for the second wave anyway," Darren said laughing. That's how we spent the rest of the night, with me worrying what Diego, Yas, and Cat were gonna plan, I hope nothing too drastic.
