Chapter 4.4

1031 Words
Another day, another routine. I was done with it and had some time to spare. Princess Anna sent me to the swimming pool to spend some time there clearing my head. I was actually disturbed by sharing my work. I hadn’t felt like that even in the school before. I changed in my boxer real quick and went for a dive. My head was flooded with the thoughts of work partner and kissing Kayden. What have I done? How can I face him now? I was angry at my drunk self. The pool had been emptied as there was no one there except me. I dipped my legs in the warm autumn water and shivered from the chilly breeze sitting down on the edge. A thing floated past me and I freaked out catching myself from falling. It was a person. Just floating away as if he had drowned. I panicked and jumped in after the man forgetting that being passionate about something didn’t mean to ignore the rules and regulations of knowing something in the first place before risking anything. I struggled as I reached the man since I couldn’t swim. I jerked the man with all the force I could manage and I went under. The man flinched and flipped his head out of the water catching me off guard holding onto my arms saving me from going under again and again. I was almost crying as we stood there in the water, awkwardly. “Aiden?” I looked up at him whereas my chin dipped in the water and my eyes watered. The f**k is Kayden doing here!? “KAYDEN!? WHAT THE f**k WAS THAT!? DO YOU ENJOY GIVING HEART ATTACKS!? ARE YOU DONE PLAYING GAMES!? WHAT WERE YOU DOING!?” I shouted as he just stood there looking at me in confusion. He took a sharp breath as his eyes fixed on me, I fought with the water and he pulled me to the safe side making me sit on the edge and out of water. “I was relaxing. What’re you doing here?” He said running his hand through his hair as he sat beside me. “You call that relaxing??? I thought you had drowned or something! For f**k’s sake, why do you play like that!?” I sobbed wiping my tears and he laughed at me. Of course he found me ridiculous and funny, “I’m going back! You can keep relaxing!” I shouted and got up only to slip and fall in the water. He saw me struggling in the water and shook his head at me. A minute later and I was really dying fighting to stay afloat. He jumped in after me and I was coughing water at this point. “You don’t know swimming and you dived after me? You’re crazy!” He said as I took sharp breaths, my eyes fixed on his toned body dripping wet. “I’d jump in for anyone! Didn’t know it was you!” I shouted at him as I shivered. The steam was wafting off our bodies. “Ah, okay. What are you doing here? It’s my time to swim.” “I’m playing baseball here, can’t you see?” I rolled my eyes at him. “Doesn’t look like it.” He commented, “Here, let’s get you dry or you’ll catch a cold.” He said handing me a towel. I snatched it from his hands and grumbled under my breath. Winter was almost here and I was more than ready for it, in hindsight. “I can take care of myself very well, no thanks!” I said going to take a warm shower and he followed me closely. “I didn’t say you couldn’t.” He said standing next to me in the stall. “Can you like leave me alone for five minutes?” I don’t know what I was annoyed about, the fact that I missed him or I didn’t approve of his relaxing method. He might as well had been trying to kill himself for all I could tell. “I don’t have you.” He smiled at me, “Yet.” I washed up and hurried down to the main hall and found Ashly running errands in the kitchen. She was preparing the milk for the babies and I found it strange. “Ashley, you don’t mix boiled hot water with the mix. You cool it down and then mix it.” I said and she jumped a little, “Oh I know. I was just testing it. It’s not that hot.” She excused but appeared to be nervous about something. She prepared tea as well. Maybe she had prepared it for herself. She might’ve seen me staring at her actions because she was making up all kinds of excuses, “This, I prepared it for her highness, it removes acne and body ache. It’s good for blood circulation too. I brought it from my homeland farms. Dried herbs go in it and honey. Her highness loves honey tea.” I nodded along to her words as I personally made the milk and handed it to her. She smiled awkwardly at me and we went to the babies’ room, fed them, burped them and lulled them. I don’t know her highness drank that kind of tea before and I didn’t know if she had drank it that day as well. She seemed like a hard person to say no to others. “You look like you’re having a secret affair smiling like that.” Ashley said to me as she tidied up the babies’ closet. “Do I look that weird?” I asked her nervously. What am I thinking about? The fact that I still haven’t faced Kayden about the kiss we shared when I was drunk or the fact that I wanted to kiss him back at the swimming pool? Which one is it!? “Yeah, weirdo. You look sick mad in love.” Lily said as she entered with juice for both of us. I smiled nervously and tidied up the toys to clock in for the day. +++++
