Nine When I rolled out of bed Tuesday morning, my muscles didn’t scream in aching agony. Either the day off over the weekend had given me a much-needed boost, or after more than two weeks on the ranch, they must have given up on my actually listening to them. I was betting on the latter. Could total system failure be far behind? My brain, on the other hand, was singularly determined to stay asleep. Even after splashing cold water on my face several times giving my cheeks a good wake-up slapping, I could have fallen right back into bed and slept for another six hours. At least.
