Stella’s POV
I walked out of the conference room and immediately caught all four of my brothers’ scents. The ones that always gave me comfort. I realized they were in the large living room and made my way towards them. When I got to the room, I noticed they were all sitting stiffly on two of the large couches staring intently at Nora. Their faces showed sympathy for the young she-wolf.
When I looked at Nora, I instantly felt sadness fill my heart. She was silently crying to herself. I walked over to her; her head snapped to my direction as soon as she heard me. Eyes pleading for forgiveness. I gave her a bright smile, one I hoped showed her I wasn’t upset with her. When I saw no change in her expression, I pulled her into a soothing hug and used my calming aura to slow her heart rate.
“I’m sorry again. I just want you to-” She began but I cut her off.
“Nora, you don’t need to keep apologizing. I understand why you did what you did.” I said with a sigh and a smile.
“Thank you. But still. I want you to know I hated acting that way towards you. I know we don’t know each other, but when I said those things. And worse when I heard what Grace said. I wanted to hurt her for threatening you.” She said with a low growl when thinking about what happened in the bathroom.
“Hey, how about we start over? Hi, I’m stella.” I said excitedly at the prospect of possibly becoming friends with this girl. I felt badly for how she was treated by her supposed friend, and I felt a bond with her that I couldn’t explain. She smiled brightly at me.
“Hi! I’m Nora.” She said with just as much excitement.
“I think you and I can be really great friends.” I answered with a shy smile, never having had a girl my age to be friends with. All the girls in this pack were always trying to befriend me solely to get close to my brothers, something I despised. Eventually, I just stopped trying and now I feel like I honestly could be friends with this girl. She was a pure soul; I could sense it. I also appreciated the fact that she was like me and waiting for her mate which meant she wouldn’t be chasing after my brothers.
“Y-you want to be my friend?” She said with a shaky voice, lip trembling.
“I can’t explain it. My wolf and I feel a bond with you. I think we were meant to be friends. I mean if that’s something you wanted.” I said with a small laugh.
“Emmy said the same thing! She said we’re connected in some way. We just don’t know how yet.” She said with a smile. “I think I would really like being your friend.” A shy laugh coming from her. I couldn’t help but notice Theo and Teo eyeing her after hearing her laugh. It was as if their eyes light up at the sound. It reminded me of when I was around…Oh my god! No wonder I felt a connection with her. I smiled brightly, beaming with excitement.
“Nora, when’s your birthday?” I asked casually.
“Wednesday!” She answered excitedly. I watched at my Theo and Teo’s eyes widened slightly.
“No way! Our birthday’s Wednesday also.” I said enthusiastically.
“Really?! Wait all of your birthday’s?” She asked confused.
“Yeah, all born on the same day. But we’re not quintuplets.” Leo said as if it was the most normal thing ever. To everyone in the pack it was, but for strangers it was odd.
“As you know our mom has three mates. She became pregnant with all of us around the same time. Different bio dads and all that.” Bash said with a shrug. I giggled at how crazy it must sound to outsiders and by Nora’s wide eyes I could tell she was still confused.
“So basically. My biological father is Alpha Luca. Leo and Bash’s bio dad is Alpha Nick. And Theo and Teo’s bio dad is Alpha Jayden. But for us they’re all our dad’s.” I explain, pointing to each of my brothers while doing so. When I pointed to Theo and Teo I notice Nora’s eyes lingering on them longer than they had to Bash and Leo.
“Wow. Must be nice having three dads.” She said with a small sad smile.
“Are you close to yours?” Theo asked in his sweet and gentle voice. Her eyes snapped to him with tears brimming her eyes. I saw pain flash in Theo’s eyes at the sight of Nora upset.
“I was. My dad died during a rogue attack.” She whispered sadly.
“Oh my. I’m sorry to hear that.” I said noticing my brothers stunned silence.
“Does your pack get rogue attacks frequently?” Bash asked with a slight growl in his voice, Theo and Teo gave him a warning look for growling at the she-wolf in front of them. “What? I’m not about to let Stella into a pack who is constantly targeted.” He said defensively.
“f**k, I didn’t even think of that.” Teo growled.
“It’s been a few years since we were attacked. Our borders have become more secure, and patrols are stricter now.” Nora said in defense of her pack. My brothers all let out a breath they had been holding.
“Oh well that’s good I guess.” Leo said with much relief in his voice, but still skepticism flashed in his eyes.
“Are you all trained regularly?” Bash questioned.
“Every day after school for a couple hours and a four-hour training on Saturdays.” She answered with pride for her pack.
“That sounds pretty solid.” Teo said sounding shocked.
“Okay, enough with the interrogation. Let’s head back to the school. We need to get our assignments and get Nora back.” I say getting annoyed that they keep pushing for information about Kai’s pack.
“Oh yeah that’s right. Why don’t Teo and I bring you guys? Leo and Bash can set up training for later. We’ll get your assignments. No need for all of us to go.” Theo said.
“I could just go alone.” I said with a sly smile.
“In your dreams angel.” They all growled out at me.
“Ugh. Fine, let’s go.” I said with a huff. As I walked towards the car, I felt my phone vibrate a few times in my pocket. When I looked at the screen and unknown number was displayed with four messages.
1(914)765-8910: ‘Hey baby. Is everything okay? Are you okay?’
1(914)765-8910: ‘I’m so sorry again I wasn’t there for you. I hate that this happened.’
1(914)765-8910: ‘Stella? Please tell me you’re okay?!’
1(914)765-8910: ‘Oh, this is Kai by the way. If you hadn’t figured that our already. Please answer me soon, I’m starting to panic. I just need to hear that you’re okay.’
I could help but smile at my phone. I instantly felt bad for making him worry, as I sat in the back seat I responded back as fast as I could.
Stella: ‘Hi! I’m perfectly fine. Sorry, I just saw your messages.’ I sent the message and with seconds I had a response flash on my screen.
Kai: ‘Oh thank god! What are you up to baby?’
Stella: ‘Heading back to the school to pick up my assignments.’
I felt my phone vibrate again with a response, but when I noticed we had pulled up to the school I slipped my phone in my pocket. I hopped out of the car with my brothers following suit and Nora climbing out behind me. I turned around to face her and smile brightly at her.
“Why don’t we go to the principal’s office together and we can explain our absence. With the future Alpha’s present, he shouldn’t give you much of a problem.” I said to Nora quietly.
“Thank you for being so forgiving and kind Stella. I can see why they call you angel.” She says with a smile and pulled me into a hug, I was about to hug her back when a growl was heard from behind me before I was pushed behind a broad back.
“WHY THE f**k ARE YOU TOUCH MY MATE! AFTER EVERYTHING YOU DID TODAY?” Kai roared in Nora’s face.
“I-I” Nora was shaking in absolute fear and before Kai could grab her, I pulled him back towards me, I felt him relax into my touch. Theo and Teo had jumped in front of Nora protectively causing Kai to look at them confused.
“She’s innocent.” I said from behind him, still trying to pull him away from my brothers and Nora.
“What?” He questioned, finally turning around to look at me. I watched as his eyes softened when they met mine.
“Grace was threatening her. She was forced to act the way she did. She’s innocent.” I explain calmly.
“Also, do you think she would be with Stella right now if she wasn’t? Do you think our fathers would just allow her to walk away unharmed for what happened? s**t that we would?” Theo asked angrily, not liking the fact that Kai had question my family’s ability to protect me.
“Let’s just make one think very f*****g clear Malakai.” Teo spat out his name. “When it comes to anything pertaining to our sister’s safety and well-being my family does NOT take any risks. When it comes to anything concerning Stella. So don’t ever question ANYTHING that we decide when it concerns her.” Teo growled ferociously. Kai’s head snapped to Teo immediately, it was so quick if he hasn’t been a wolf I’m pretty sure his neck would’ve snapped.
“As long as it concerns Stella, I will question EVERYTHING!” Kai roared back, attempting to step closer to Teo. “If I don’t know the facts, you should want me to. What kind of mate to your sister would I be if I didn’t?” He questioned with a softer tone, stopping his movements when my nails dug into his arm. I watched as understanding and a smile filled Teo and Theo’s expressions.
“Good answer young Alpha.” Theo said in his typically cheery voice.
“I’m older than you.” Kai said with a small laugh.
“Eh but I’m an old soul.” Theo said with humor lacing his voice.
“Alpha, I already apologized to Luna. But I would like to apologize to you also for my behavior. I feel ashamed and wish I wasn’t such a scared coward. If I had told you what was happening, none of this would’ve…well, anyways I’m sorry Alpha.” Nora said from the side of Teo’s back.
“What exactly happened Nora?” Kai asked gently, I watched as shame crossed Nora’s face and I knew she was embarrassed of her Alpha knowing the lies Grace was willing to spread.
“Kai, maybe we should keep that between us. Too many people already had to know. All you need to know is she’s a good person and a great pack member.” I said in my sweetest voice, hoping to persuade him into dropping it, by the look of admiration in his eyes for me I think it’s safe to say it worked.
"Okay baby." He said pulling me into a tight embrace and inhaling my scent. "You're sure you're okay?" He whispered into my ear, I couldn't help the shiver that ran down my spine as his breath tickled my ear.
"I promise. We should head to the office to get our assignments." I say with a shy smile.
"Can I walk you?" When I looked at the hopeful expression in his eyes I couldn't say no.
"Okay." I squeaked out, feeling my cheeks flame in embarrassment. Earning me his signature cocky smirk.
