It was finally weekend and Charles invited Anna out and she never turned down an invitation that includes fun. He was waiting for her in her favorite fast food restaurant.
"Hmm, don't you have other clothes?" She asks.
"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" He asks in return.
"It's just that all the times I've met you, you are always wearing a T-shirt and jeans. Even on work days."
"Can't I go to work wearing a jean?"
"By the way, what do you do?" She asks curious.
"I'm an engineer," he replied. "You can ask your boss, I work with her husband."
"Alright," she said. "So what's your full name?"
"Don't you want to order first?" He asks.
"Alright." Charles signalled the waiter and they placed their orders.
"My full name is Abiola Olamide Charles," he said
"Your name sounds familiar," Anna said.
He smiles. "That's because I'm exceptional." Meanwhile, he knew the reason his name sounded familiar was because of his grandpa who bears the same name. "So, what about you?"
"I'm Adeniyi Anna and I am a fashion designer with other side hustles."
"Side hustles, I like that. What side hustle do you do?"
"I sell make up and do other things when the need arises as far as it yields cash," she replied.
"You sound ambitious and it's good. Just match your ambition with hardwork."
"I know and I will. Are you married?"
"Will I be here if I'm married?" He asks surprised.
"How do I know? Nowadays, you can't predict married people," she replied.
"If I may ask, how old are you Anna?"
"Twenty four. Will be twenty five in October." Charles sighs. "What is it?"
"You are quite younger than I am."
"How old are you? Thirty?" She asks.
"No, thirty four," he replied.
"Then why are you not married? Don't you have a girlfriend?"
"Will I be here if I have one?"
"How will I know? I'm not you," she replied.
"If you have a boyfriend, will you go out with another guy?" He asks.
"If depends on the guy," she said
"Honestly, I don't know what to say to you Anna."
After lunch, they went to the movies and when they were coming out of the cinema, an issue broke out.
"Charles, what are you doing here and who is she?"
Both Anna and Charles turn to see that it was Ruth. The crazy customer. Great.
"Charles, can't you talk? Who is she?" Ruth repeated.
"I don't owe you explanation for who I hang out with," he replied.
"Really, so you have been avoiding me because of this thing," Ruth said pointing at Anna. "This thing. Charles you have no shame."
"Our relationship is over and you have no business with who I hang out with," he said.
"So, are you trying to say this thing is better than me?" Ruth asks shocked.
"Please, I'm not a thing and he is not my boyfriend either," Anna said.
"Really? Then why are you with him?"
"Do not let it bother you," Anna replied. "I'm taking my leave." "Anna wait," Charles said. She doesn't reply but hails a taxi and leaves.
"Charles, why are you ignoring me?" Ruth asks holding him.
"Get your hands off me," he snapped. "Hope you are happy now? Let me repeat myself one more time, we will never be together."
"If I can't have you then no one can," Ruth replied. Charles does not reply as he leaves.
