'You can only regret something and truly call it a mistake if you don't learn and grow from it' ~ Katrin Davidsdottir Colton's P.O.V. Have you ever made a decision which you don't regret making because you made it in hopes of protecting the woman you love and keeping her safe but at the same time you do regret making the decision you made because it ultimately ended up hurting her in the end?. If your answer is yes then you understand how I feel right now which is anger, shame and a shed load of pain because I caused my girl, my world, the love of my freaking life so much pain and heartache when I was trying my hardest to protect her but I ended up hurting her so badly that she moved thousands of miles just to get away from me. In fact, I hurt her so much that Ollie refuses to come back home to Colorado because she doesn't wanna see Tyler and me which as you can imagine, hurt like a motherfucker but every day I have to remind myself that Ollie doesn't know the truth and hopefully she'll give me a second chance one day when she finally does learn the truth. I remember the day I found out my Ollie had left me for good. We'd had a crazy summer which was a far cry from what we had originally planned with Tyler and Demi, as well as a few of our other friends. We were hoping to travel the world together and have a lot of fun before coming back home to go on our annual end of summer family holiday and then start our college lives together but all of that changed when Ollie had avoided me like I was the plague and had every excuse in the book to not to go ahead with our plans or join in with anything else we had planned. Anyway, I was in my room on my bed and I was calling and texting Ollie like crazy but she wasn't answering me, so feeling fed up, I stormed downstairs with the intention of going to see my girl and find out what was going on but before I could, I received a nice, hard slap to the face from my twin sister who had tears streaming down her face. This was really weird for me to see because my sister is one of the strongest women I know, she's a total hard ass and I knew that whatever had made her cry must've been something pretty bad for her to break like this. Demi then ranted at me like an angry wolf who had verbal diarrhoea and I felt my heart drop as it broke into smithereens when she explained that the reason why Ollie's been acting so strange from her overhearing the argument we had three months previously over that b***h Chelsea to her leaving Colorado so that she could attend another college in a different state. I was absolutely devastated and angry because I had not only hurt the most important person in my world but I hurt her as well and these emotions intensified when I realised that my girls pain and heartache was mostly caused by that f*****g b***h. I wanted nothing more than to kill her, especially after I had received a goodbye text from Ollie saying 'we're over, I know about the bet you f*****g jerk, I hope you have a nice life, goodbye forever asshole' but I didn't because I refused to allow this b***h to ruin my life even further than she already has. Receiving this text felt like a kick to my chest, especially when my sister blamed me and Tyler for Ollie leaving which she's right about because we should've done more to nip the whole Chelsea situation in the bud faster and prevent Olivia from getting hurt. "Are you ok, brother?" "I'm fine, Ty" "No, you're not you're thinking of her again, aren't you?" He asks me whilst trying to avoid saying Ollie's name because just hearing her name brings a sting to my heart. "Maybe" I said whilst letting out a breath. "I miss her, brother...I miss her so much" "I know, Colt, so do I" Tyler says whilst smacking his hand down on my shoulder. His phone then pinged with a message which I just assumed was my sister or one of our other friends but then I heard him groan next to me as he ran a hand through his hair. "s**t" "What? what's wrong?" "We forgot the big family dinner our moms planned for tonight" Fuck. I groaned to myself as I close my eyes and threw my head back. "Our moms are gonna kick our asses for not showing up" "Yeah, especially since they had a big announcement to make tonight and they wanted the whole family there" Double s**t, f**k. I thought to myself as I finished off my beer. "Come on" "Where are we going?" Tyler asked confused. "Home...I'm turning twenty five soon and I'd rather do that without getting my ass beat beforehand by my five foot nothing mom" I say whilst putting my jacket on. Tyler also put his jacket on and we immediately headed out of the bar where one of my families driver Roland was waiting for us. "Hey Roland" I say with a slight slur as Tyler almost trips over his own two feet which had Roland shaking his head. Shit, I didn't realise we were this drunk. "Get in the car, boys, you're lucky your mothers are in good moods tonight that they may just overlook you both being so stinking drunk" "Why are our moms in a good mood?" My mom and auntie Sandra are rarely in good moods these days ever since Ollie left and refused to come home, so I'm surprised to hear Roland say they're both in a good mood. "You'll soon find out enough, Master McKenzie" Roland says and I roll my eyes. "You've known my ass since I was in diapers, Roland, why don't you just call me Colton?" "Because it's not proper, sir, now get in" He says whilst holding open the door for us to get in. We get in the car and Roland immediately drives us home to my auntie and uncles house. I don't know why but I had this weird feeling which I couldn't pinpoint, I just knew that it was bouncing on my anxiety and not in a bad way. "Hey Roland, do you know what's going on at home and why my mom and auntie Sandra wanted us to come home for dinner" "I'm not sure, sir" Roland said with a slight smile on his face which I thought was odd because he never smiles on the job. Yeah, he definitely knows something. And this thought wasn't helping to ease my rising anxiety. When we arrived back at my aunties home, Tyler and I both stumbled out of the car like the pair of drunk idiots that we are and we head up to the door as Tyler fumbled with his keys which still had a keyring on them which was made by Ollie when we were in high school. I remember he didn't appreciate it when she first gave it to him but he quickly grew an affection for it when he realised she was gone and she wasn't coming back. "f**k" Tyler groaned as he dropped his keys. "What are you doing, you i***t?" "I dropped my keys" "Well, duh" I say with a chuckle which made Tyler chuckle. He eventually managed to unlock the door but as he did the door jammed a little and I had to shoulder it to get it to budge which caused us both to fall through the door whilst laughing our asses off. "You're such a f*****g i***t, Colton" "Yeah, says the jackass who can't even open a door properly" We said whilst laughing which died down when someone cleared their throat. We then looked up with huge smiles on our faces but they quickly dispersed when I saw the beautiful creature standing on the stairs next to her old man. "Oh my god, Olivia" I gasped as I forced myself to my feet. She's back, my girl is finally back. "Colton, Tyler, it's good to see some things haven't changed, have they?" "You're back" I said barely above a shocked whisper as both Tyler and I looked at Olivia in shock. "Of course I am, Colton, I'm not an effigy" Olivia says with a scoff. "No, I know, I..." "Where have you boys been? I thought I told you both to be back at home for seven o'clock" My auntie Sandra growled as she glared at us. "Isn't it obvious, auntie? they were out drowning their sorrows again in some dive bar" "Shut up, Demi" I growled at my sister whilst keeping my eyes firmly focused on Olivia. She's always been a beautiful girl with her soft, naturally tanned skin, her curvy figure, her minty green eyes and long, wavy chestnut brown hair which is more of a cherry cola colour now but she seems to have blossomed and grown even more stunningly beautiful if that's even possible. "Ollie baby, I'm so glad you're back, can we talk, please?" "I'm not your baby, Colton and no we can't talk" Olivia says before walking down the last few steps on the stairs and heading into the kitchen. I instantly panicked and tried to follow her but I was stopped by my uncle Frank who stood in front of me and pressed his hand against my chest. "She said no, son, so back off" "But uncle, I..." "Give her time, baby, she's overwhelmed right now and needs some time" My auntie says and I sighed. I don't want time, I want my girl.
