Tangled Destiny

Sasha’s POV “Sasha, come here. You will be living with me in the palace from now onwards,” our alpha said to me, and I could only whisper a “thank you”. I didn’t know what to say and to top it up, I was puzzled as to how fast this was taking place. The way I lost my parents in the blink of an eye. I am only 16 and now orphaned by a huge rogue I saw two nights before. It was two days ago when I was returning from my visit to a friend. I often visit her to gist about how our future will be when we finally find out mate. She is my only friend, my best friend. She couldn’t believe it when I told her about the death of my parents. Well, I have to live for now. The deed is done, and I cannot change the past, but I miss my parents. I can’t live without them. I am not a male that I can adjust quickly, so I am sure hell that I am going to have to battle through this. “Why did you bring her to this palace”? I could hear the angry voice that sounded like the Luna. Although I had never met her, I’d heard rumours from the pack about how she had been cruel and tried to control the alpha. Some people said she used charm to be with the alpha, that the alpha did not find his mate and that was why he chose and settled with Luna Margaret, as she is known. “Calm down, we can sort this out, my lady”, I hear the tender voice of the alpha, trying to soothe her and probably calm her down. “Why are you telling me to calm down?” I was in the living room as I was waiting for the alpha. He asked me to stay here and wait for a maid who would come to show me to my room. “You are Lady Sasha” I was brought back to life by a gentle hand that tapped me on the shoulder. I didn’t realize I had blacked out while sitting on the sofa in the sitting room. It was my medium to escape what I was hearing from the corridor leading to the stairs, although when I woke up, the voices had faded into the dark. “Yes,” I murmured to her. “Okay, follow me, the alpha has assigned me to take you to your room” I stood up and trailed behind her. Soon, we got to a door and she pointed that to me as my room. ‘I need to take my bath and change from these clothes that I have been wearing since morning’ I made a mental note to myself. Just as if she was thinking what I was thinking, “Your clothes are in the wardrobe”, she said to me, and I was surprised for a moment. I was amazed at how quickly the alpha was able to arrange things in order. “I have to take my bath now and rest,” I said to her, and she left the room without saying a word or making another gesture. I found this weird. I finished taking a bath and changed into the clothes that the alpha had kept for me. Just as I was about to settle into the bed, I heard a knock on the door, and I murmured a “come in” audible enough for the person to hear. I saw the maid entering inside with a trail of food. It looked like she had gone to make me something to eat. “The alpha said I should bring your meal to you in the room, but tomorrow you will be joining them in the dining to have breakfast,” She said to me and placed the meal gently on the room table and started to head towards the door. She held the doorknob, and as she was about to twist it to open it, I called out, “Hey” She turned around, staring blankly at me. “Um, what is your name, please?” “Veronica,” She said to me. “I am Sasha” I replied. “I know, the alpha already told me”. “Now, eat and rest. Also, sorry for the loss of your parents” She said, displaying a sympathetic look. That was when I knew that she had been feeling remorseful for me about my loss. “Thank you,” I said to her before she waved and left the room, leaving me in deep thought once again. I just realized that I have been acting like I forgot the death of my parents two nights before. I can’t just get over this trauma. I encouraged myself after sobbing incessantly. I managed to take a few spoons from the meal before I got carried away by my thoughts again. I don’t know how to come out of this. ‘Mom, Dad. Why did you leave me alone in this world?’ The night my parents died was the same night that my friend shifted. I wanted to tell them that Sonia had shifted. We were gonna talk about it but I have been denied the opportunity to see my parents and talk. The only thing I have now is a substance that my dad gave to me. He said that I needed it, that it would come to the day that I would need it. That was the only interaction I had with my dad. My mom was already lifeless. My parents were so good to me and they loved me so much, even more than any parent would love their offspring. All of a sudden, I was jolted out of my thoughts by a heavy knock on the door. I quickly got up from the bed to see who was at the door. I opened the door and quickly stepped back as the lady in front of me was not looking all too happy to see me. She could devour me in a moment’s notice by the expression she had on her face. “Are you Sasha?” She asked me in a tone that was laced with authority and anger. “Y.. yes”, I stuttered yes, my body already trembling as I thought of all the bad things that could happen. “Who gave you the right to eat in the room?” She asked me, and I trembled more, seeing that I had violated one of the rules in the palace on my first day. “I..” “Shut up”. I opened my mouth to answer but she shut me up with a loud voice. I kept and remained quiet. At this point, I want to piss on my pants. “You have no place in this palace and I promise to teach you how to respect the palace. I will show you where you belong, and that is the dungeon” She said and stormed out of the room, leaving me behind to wallow in sorrow again. Just as I was about to go to bed, the door swung open again, with the same woman dashing venomously towards me in the room.
