Chapter 7

1206 Words
Stanley’s POV “I should quickly go and get the herbs.” Dad’s sickness is getting worse by the day, and it does not look like he can survive this anymore. I have to quickly go and get the herbs; otherwise, I don't know what will become of his fate. Ever since we have been living together in the palace, he has not mentioned anything about his Luna or my mom either. I know he's my father, but I also need to know who gave birth to me and brought me into this world where an iron fist would raise me. I got to the forest and straight ahead to where I normally get the herbs. I don't know why Uncle Sam would insist that I be the only one to go get the herb any time the seer comes to check on Dad. ‘When I succeed Dad, who is going to die soon, I will have the unparalleled authority to do as it pleases me. I will make sure to execute my plans. I will first start with the Wildermoon Pack and show them what we are made of. I don't know why Dad wants peace instead of putting an end to this madness.’ I said to myself, already feeling disgusted by Dad's unending advocacy for peace. This wilderness is usually quiet, but I could hear some ruffles in the forest. The sound became more real as it sounded more like a feminine voice and this aroused my curiosity. I leapt into the forest to find an innocent-looking girl, almost being torn apart by some tattered rogues. I was very irritated at the sight that was before me, and I immediately sent the rogues to hell, where they would never return. I used all the anger that I had regurgitated during my training days, and before I knew it, my body was full of blood. I killed the 6 ugly rogues, and then I went to the girl who was lying lifelessly on the ground. I checked her pulse and found out she was still alive. I carried her quickly to the nearest pack clinic and summoned the doctors and nurses to take care of her till I was back. I rushed back into the forest to get the herbs as I was distracted by the scene I encountered earlier. I got back to the palace and gave the herbs to the seer who performed his rituals and usual treatment on the alpha, which have not been yielding any reasonable results. I wonder what the seer kept coming for. His treatments are no longer working, and he persists in fooling the people and the royal household, but not me. This is the type of person that I will denounce and banish from this pack immediately I become the alpha of this pack. I love Dad, but I know he won't make it, so there is no need to hope for nothing. I left them to attend to the visitors that the alpha had. They were the elders of the pack who had come to inquire about the welfare of their alpha. I did not bother to take them to the place where the alpha was. I just told them his state and sent them off. They know that I don't entertain senseless talks. Go straight to the matter and save time for important things. Things like regaining control and the land that Wildermoon Pack had taken from us. *** It has been four days now, and neither has Dad gotten better but grew worse with each passing minute. He lies in bed every day, and I have to take care of him like an old man who has a stroke and elephantiasis altogether. This morning, I want to go check on the girl I saved a few days ago. The doctor said she had not been responding to treatments. I wanted to go and find out what was going on. But I have to eat now because last night I did not have my meal and Wane has been pestering me for some food. My wolf is also sick and tired of the way we are living in this forsaken prison of a pack and palace. I was just starting to eat when my only close friend came to announce to me that the girl had woken up. I felt a string of joy rise in my heart all of a sudden, and it quickly went down as soon as I noticed it. Well, I'll figure that out later. James is my one and only friend. He will be my beta once I ascend the alpha throne or seat, whatever it is called. I don't care; I just want to become the Alpha and take care of the pack's major problem, which is superiority. James knows almost every area of my life, and we are both pained by the same thing, but, of course, he knows his limits to me. I am royalty, and he doesn't forfeit to understand that. This is one of the reasons I liked him and took him as my brother. “The lady looks lost and somehow desperate to know where she is and how she got here”, he uttered, and I raised my brows at him, gesturing that I got him. Who would not be puzzled to be in such a situation? I mean, waking up after four days. “Go and get a maid and prepare a room for her in the palace. She will stay with me in the palace for now,” I said to James, and he looked confused, like I had proclaimed an abomination. “But, Stanley, it is not usually allowed to bring a stranger into the abode of the Alpha”, he stated plainly. I know he is trying to look out for me, but what he doesn't know is that I will be the Alpha soon and modify some of the useless laws in this palace. “I understand you, James. Just go and do as I say,” I said in a tone of finality, and James acknowledged that and went to do as I stated to him to do. I finished my meal and went to check on the girl whom I rescued from the forest a few days ago. I got to the door to find her sneaking out. To where exactly? Who gave her the permission to commit such an atrocity before me? I questioned myself rhetorically as I walked to her. “Go back to the bed”, I shouted at her, and she trembled back to the room and took her place on the bed. “What were you doing in the forest, and who are you?” I asked her, as if I really cared. I will deal with any threats on my way without crying out to a strange girl for help. She stuttered her name, and I managed to hear she was Sasha. “Don't leave this place until I permit you to leave”, I instructed her, and left to get more herbs for Dad so I wouldn't be bothered again when it became urgent.
