UNIDENTIFIED VOICES.
Damien stretched his hands trying hard to reach out to something but there was nothing, he frantically searched around him with his hands and his eyes were tightly shut.
after flinging his hands around him for some seconds, he heard footsteps and he instinctively grabbed at whatever was close to him.
He sighed when his hands grabbed unto something or someone, he tried to open his eyes but it was futile. the hand he was holding unto felt smaller in his grasp , but that wasn't what caught his attention.
The moment he held unto the hand it felt like an electric surge worked through his whole body making his heavy body feel light immediately. He felt like a heavy load has been lifted off him.
"Hey." a soft voice called out beside him more like a whisper. His body shook slightly and his eyes opened slowly taking in his surrounding.
unfamiliar scents of herbs hits his nose and the thin white cotton covering the opened door in front of him was transparent enough for him to see the bustling streets below the building.
he jolted quickly from the small bed he was laying on frantically reaching for the cotton.
Vehicles horn fills his ears and the unfamiliar faces of people going in and out of the huge market place made him dizzy.
"Hey you're not yet stable to run around." He shot a death glare toward the figure that was coming out of the house he just came out from and his gaze quickly soften when he finally took in her whole frame.
She looks really young, and there was something about her that made him feel like he has known her since forever yet her face looks so unfamiliar.
"Who....who are you?." He questioned her, his gaze never leaving her. she didn't seem terrified by his death glare earlier.
"I'm Aline can we go back inside to talk?." she asked him softly and his body betrayed him by following her back inside even when his mind fights with him.
"Who are you?." he repeated his question growing impatient.
" I just told you my name," she gestured toward the single bed in the room. and he sat like an obedient puppy. "I brought you back two days ago from the woods, you were seriously injured and I'm still yet to figure out what type of animal could cause such wounds to warranty people being in coma for days."
"Animal?, what do you mean?." Damien's memories were a bit messed up at the moment but he vividly remembered being shot at his side.
"The one that attacked you in the woods obviously." Aline replied looking confused.
"I was shot in the gut not some damn animal attack, what are you saying?."
Aline looked at him like he had just grown horns before gesturing to his bandaged torso.
he slowly peeled the white material off his body ignoring the pain. He almost jumped off the bed when he saw the side of his waist that was supposed to be occupying gun injury covered in what looks like stripes from animal claws. Deep and long they were almost reaching his chest.
"Oh my God." he hadn't realize Aline presence beside him and he had the urge to run his hands over her brows that are raised in concern.
"I didn't know they were this deep, it was so dark the night I brought you in."
Damien was speechless and his gaze never left the stripe marks on his side.
" I'll go get the doctor." Aline was out before he could say any other word. He tried hard to make sense of what was going on but nothing was making sense. the last thing he remembered was being shot by an unfamiliar face.
he didn't even know why he was shot or who those people were. he didn't know how he ended up running in the woods, he didn't know how a claw injury appeared on him instead of a gun injury.
most importantly, he didn't know..... didn't know.. who was he?
'who am I, how did I get here?,' his mind was becoming hazy and his vision blurry. He tried to force himself to remember who he was again but it only made his head throbbed more.
broken fragments of some of his memories were going in circles in his head and he couldn't make any straight picture out of them.
'mother....'
'My Lord we're '
'Damien go'
'Damien don't.....'
'Damien you are the weakest maf.....'
'Don't let him get away '
'Take me, take me please don't hurt Damien.'
All these voices were rushing in his brain but he doesn't know who they belong to.
'DAMIEN'
he shivered at this particular voice. It felt like it came from within him and at the same time from his discarded memories.
This time, he was sure he had heard the voice certainly from somewhere.
He felt like he knew the voice and at the same time he doesn't, the energy in the voice alone caused cold sweat to flow down his spine. The voice was his, but how?.
The voice belonged to him, and it was threatening. His own voice was threatening him from his head.
'Damien'
This time he was sure he wasn't imagining it, his head was spinning and his name threatening to leave his lips in a loud yelp.
'Sleep'
And like a sack of wool, he fell to the ground.
