"I'm so sorry you had to go through that," consoled Violet.
"Me too," I sighed.
"I feel as now is a good time to tell you," said Violet.
"Oh god," I freaked out," what happened?"
"Mr. Ryder has been standing at the door for a couple minutes," she explained.
I heard a sharp intake of breath come from my doorway. She quickly walked out leaving Alex and I alone. I wanted to ask her to stay, but let's be honest. I was never the nicest to her.
"You heard everything?" I sighed.
"Yeah, I did," he admitted.
"I can't believe I wasn't there for you," he said," I mean you are the love of my life, and I wasn't there for you in your hardest times. And god, my baby. My baby's gone."
"Stop!" I yelled angrily. How dare he?
"Diana is my baby! My child! I carried here for 4 months in my womb before she died! I was there for her when you weren't so don't you dare say Diana is your baby. She and Andre are mine!"
I didn't care how selfish I was being. He had no right. His expression remained fixed throughout my rant.
"Diana and Andre?" he asked.
"That's their names yes," I answered.
"Why Diana and Andre?" he said. I shook my head. He knew why. He just wanted me to say it.
"Because Andre was the name of your grandfather who was always nice to me. After our divorce he was the only one to believe me. Between all my part time jobs, I took care of him until his death. I couldn't even attend his funeral because you wouldn't let me," I explained," Diana was my twin sister's name who died from a drug overdose as you know."
"I- I didn't know grandpops still saw you after our divorce," he said.
"Well he did," I scoffed.
"C- can I meet Andre?" he pleaded.
"No," I said without hesitation.
Andre has done fine without a father in his life. Maybe one day, he can meet Alex but not now.
"Did you tell him the real story?" he questioned with hope lacing his voice.
"No I told him you had lots of work," I explained.
"Oh ok," he said.
His once proud, handsome eyes were filled with melancholy.
In the blink of an eye, it was replaced by determination. Alex had taken everything from me in 3 minutes. Did he deserve to meet his son?
"I will see my son," he insisted.
I let out a large laugh," And how will you do that?"
"I'll take him from you. Full custody will be mine unless you move in with me and give me another chance," he smirked leaving me speechless.
Shit.
