Chapter 4

After the fight, Emma got pulled into the principal’s office where she admitted throwing the first punch and kicking her in the back of the head. She got sent home and was suspended for 4 weeks. Blade and Cora were still looking for Emma when they saw her coming out of the principal’s office. Blade was shocked in all the years he'd known her. She'd never got in trouble before, not with her parents, let alone school, and now she was being escorted by the police?! When school got out, Blade took off to Emma’s house. He noticed the flowers that they planted were ripped out of the ground, the stuffed animals that he'd given her were all over the yard. He smells something burning behind the house, so he walks towards the smell and sees Emma burning the pictures of them. He runs up and hugs her from behind, asking her to please stop, but she doesn’t. Instead, she drops to the floor in tears. He takes the pictures and the torch that she took from her parents' room and sits with her. They sit in silence for a moment, then Emma says, " What are you doing here? Why aren't you with her? " Tears started to fill her eyes.

"I wanted to be here with you to make sure you're okay, I still love. "

"Don't you dare say you love me Bladen", Emma interrupted.

"I'm sorry Emma, I'm so sorry" He started to cry.

"You chose her. I've known you for so long and I haven't even heard about her. What does she have that I don't? I wanted to marry you and start a life with you, isn't that enough? " She storms inside.

Blade sits there and thinks "why did I throw the one girl that loves me away?" Dark thoughts come into his head that have been held at bay for so long.

He goes to Luna's house in tears and knocks on the door. Luna answers the door with her face bruised, and her ribs broken and says without a thought " I'm suing her and pressing charges she's done for. "

"No you're not, you're gonna leave her alone" Blade barked.

"Why are you yelling at me? She did this, not me!" She yells.

"This isn't gonna work between us, Luna, it's over. Goodbye"

"What do you want a skank that doesn't want you? I love you, don't you love me? " Luna says, starting to cry.

"I thought you were different, but it's her, it's always been her. I love her Luna. I'm sorry I put you through this. She makes life worth living, she makes me smile and she would have been more concerned about me crying than suing someone. " He said and walked away, shutting the door behind him. He starts walking home and calls Cora. "Hey Cora, can you help me?"

"Why would you hurt my best friend? She loved you more than anything and you didn't care enough to end it."

"Your right Cora.. " He started to cry. " I was stupid and threw the one girl that I wanted to spend forever with away. I'm sorry you'll never hear or see me again I promise" He hangs up without another word.

"Blade? Blade?! "Cora yells. She knows that Blade has had suicidal thoughts in the past and she calls Emma, but she doesn't answer. She drives to her house and bangs on the door and yells " Emma, open the door, it's important please " The door opens and there stands Emma, blood running down her wrist. "I'm sorry Cora, I'm so sorry"

"It's okay baby girl, let's get you cleaned up" They go to the bathroom and Cora bandages her wrists and tells her about Blade. Emma jumps up and runs to the door and screams "Blade! " She turns toward Cora. "I know where he's going."

"Then go to him Emma. " Cora responded.

Emma runs to the spot where they had their first kiss. She recalls the memory as she's running.

The sun was setting over the lake, they were laying on the bank feeding each other chocolate-covered strawberries. She looks over and smiles at him and they got lost in each other's eyes and then it happens. He kissed her, it was so passionate she felt like she was the only girl in the world.

She finally gets there and sees Blade walking to a deep pocket of the lake. Emma knows he can't swim and he's too far away to hear her. She begins to take her shirt, pants, and her socks and shoes on and runs out until she has to swim. When she gets to him, she wraps her arms around him and holds him. "You can't swim please come back to the bank with me. " We are deep enough to cover just below my shoulders.

"Why, all I ever do is hurt the ones I…" He cries.

"Blade please, come back with me", she begged.

Blade nods and goes back with her. Luna shows up. " Put some clothes on you slut and get off my man."

Emma looks down realizing she was in her underwear, and backs away from Blade. He grabbed her and stood in front of her, "I already told you, Luna, it's over, being with you was a mistake. It should have never happened. I'm sorry for leading you on but I want Emma and I was an i***t to think that I didn't. " Luna smacks him

"You're worthless, you had all this and you're trading out for that? A fat nobody. " she screeches.

Emma steps out and says " Well, this fat nobody kicked your twig ass once and I will do it again if you ever lay your hands on him again. Now go back to your home town of Slutsville and stay gone." No matter what Emma will always protect Blade, they protect each other.
