Chapter 3

1059 Words
Tomorrow was Monday, time to get ready for bed. The first restless night of many more to come, Emma gets up and ready for school. She doesn’t care what she looks like anymore. She doesn’t even want to go. Blade didn’t sleep at all. Something was eating at him. He got ready for school and off he went. First period Biology. Emma took her seat in the back of the room, looking at the empty seat next to her, knowing he was going to sit there because of the assigned seating. Blade walks in and asks “Do you want me to sit somewhere else, Emma?” “Just sit.” She replies without looking at him. The bell rings and all Blade can do is look at her and everything he’s putting her through. Emma is trying to seem okay, but it’s not working. She's trying to focus on her work, but the teacher stops her. “This is a partnered assignment. You and your table mate need to work on it together or you will both fail it.” Emma thinks, “Let's just get this over with, don’t cry, just focus on the assignment.” She turns to Blade and begins reading the first problem. Blade wasn’t very good at reading, so she always helped him by reading them out loud and in a way he could understand them. “ Question 1. What are fossils?” Blade replies “Isn’t a fossil like the shell print on the rock we found at the beach together?” Emma smiles a little bit recalling the memory, “Yes, that was a fossilized clam shell.” After they finished the assignment, they had some time they could talk until the rest of the class was done. Blade turned to Emma and asked “What do you want to talk about?” “ Blade, can we stop acting like nothing has changed and that everything is okay, please. You honestly hurt me so badly,” a tear began to fall “I need time..” She turned back to her phone and played some music. Blade replies “ Of course, Princess.” The bell rings and the class scatters to second period and her best friend sees her alone in the hall. “Emma” she calls out. Emma turns and sees it’s Cora. “Oh, hi Cora, how was your weekend?” “It was good. What about yours?” “It was great!” She said, knowing it was a lie.. Cora looked around, “Where’s Blade?” Emma didn’t say anything and walked into class. It was math. She was always done with her assignments before class. She remembered that she had math homework over the weekend, she hurried and opened her bag and started on her assignment, cranking out numbers as fast as she could. Just then, the teacher walked into the class announcing a new student, “Class please welcome the newest member of room 212 Luna.” Emma looked up and it was her Blade’s girlfriend. Luna saw Emma and Cora and sat down next to them and started to talk about her and Blade’s date the night before. “Blade?” Cora looks at Emma curiously. Emma puts her head down trying not to cry. “Yea, he’s so sweet. He took me to the beach and we found some shells. He threw me into the water and we took a picture of us kissing in front of the sunset.” Luna stated. Emma slammed her hand on her table and walked out without saying a word. Cora messaged Blade. “ Hey what's going on with Emma, who is Luna and how does she know you?” a few minutes passed and Cora’s phone lights up. It’s a text from Blade, “Why are you asking who Luna is???” “She’s in Emma’s and my math class and she was going on about a date you two had and Emma stormed off. What's going on, Blade?!” “Where did Emma go?!!” “I don't know!" she replied in a hurry. Blade left class and started running around the school trying to find her. He went into bathrooms, classes, outside, he checked everywhere he couldn’t find her. He pulled out his phone and called her. It rang twice, then all he heard was silence. “Emma?” “What could you possibly want?” “I had no idea she was transferring to this school, Emma, I’m so sorry. What can I do?” She didn't say anything, she just hung up. Emma came out of hiding and went back to class, grabbed her things and walked out once again, but this time Cora and Luna followed. “What’s wrong?” Luna asked Emma. Emma didn’t say anything. The only thing she wanted to do was hit her and hit her hard. “Luna, you need to go. This isn’t your business,” Cora said. Luna smirked and said “But he chose me and not her and I can see why who would want to be with someone like her, I mean look at her.” Emma started shaking. “ You need to stop talking.” She said as calm as she could. Nobody knew what Emma was capable of doing. She had been in karate and boxing since she was in pre-k. She never told anyone, not even Blade. “Or what, what is someone as small and useless as you going to do to me? I have everyone on my side. You do anything and Blade will hate you more than he already does. Cora pulls out her phone and tells Blade where they are and what’s going on and he starts running towards them. When he got there, he saw Emma on top of Luna punching her face and rib cage. Luna punches Emma and knocks her off and tries to run to Blade, but Emma gets up and kicks her on the side of the head just before she gets to him. Blade looked at her in amazement, but Emma just picked her bag back up and walked away. Luna asked Blade to take her to the office to get an ice pack and he told her no. He went with Cora to talk to Emma.
