CHAPTER 4

Destiny’s POV

I went in and out of shift for several hours until exhaustion set in and I passed out. When I woke up, I was in my wolf form. This was officially my second shift I don’t understand why I’m having such a hard time with them.

“Go get her the change of clothes we brought” alpha Roman said to Rocky. To Destiny he said “stand and walk it’s not as easy as you would think” I tried to stand but was like a newborn fawn tripping over my long legs. When I finally did stand there was another gasp…I was as large as an alpha wolf which was almost unheard of in a bitten wolf.

You are so beautiful Adrian said to me. When the clothes arrived, Adrian stood in front of me hiding my body from the other two men. “I want you to think of your human self, Destiny and change back”. Just like that there was a very naked Destiny on the floor who quickly hid under the meeting room table. Adrian handed me sweats and a tee shirt, and I quickly changed and stood up.

“Ok, do you want to go home or to the pack lands. “Roman asked. “I highly recommend you go to pack lands with your mentor, but we will not hinder you from your apartment if that’s what you want.

“I want to go to the pack lands. Today has taught me some powerful lessons about my shift control. She said, “I think I need a lot more stress exercises.”

Roman replied “I kind of skipped over the stress exercises, let me explain it to you. By practicing stress relief and yoga you can learn quickly to control your wolf. We have classes right now for sixteen-year-olds to practice at the pack would you like to join them?”

“yes” she replied.

Arriving at the office Adrian and Rocky were waiting for me by the entrance. Rocky scooped me in his embrace without even asking permission which was both an irritation and a consolation.

Did you remember to pack extra clothes in case of an accidental shift? Adrian asked,

“Yes, I said they are in my trunk.” Destiny replied.

“You need to carry them with you at all times the first month or so. Accidental shifts can come on quickly and your mood swings will take that long to calm down. Go back and get them and Rocky and I will get you a coffee. Adrian said kindly.

I walked back to the office and I didn’t even stop for my coffee, I just went straight up with Adrian on my tail.

Adrian tried to cheer me up. He told me about growing up werewolf and some of the antics he got into as a child and young adult. By lunch time we were laughing hysterically. We went to lunch together and Rocky saved our table while we got our plates picking up an extra for Rocky. I found out that werewolves seldom get sick so that is a plus and we heal extremely fast as well. Tomorrow was Friday and I promised Adrian I would come to his cottage for the weekend for werewolf 101 follow-up. That is until they had my own cottage ready. The rest of the day went well, and I really do enjoy Adrian’s company. “Are you packed” he asked, and I replied “yes”.

“I’m on my way to get you go back in and take a hot shower.” Adrian said. I made sure my apartment was boxed up and packed for travel. We had Adrian’s SUV, Rocky’s truck and my Volvo. It should be plenty as I was told the cottages came furnished and I wasn’t taking anything big. It took forty five minutes to arrive at the pack lands and I changed my mind about staying with Adrian. I didn’t want to give him any thoughts of proprietorship over me. We unpacked the vehicles and I stood in my new cottage admiring how cute it was. It was a two-bedroom two bath cottage with log cabin siding and rustic interior. It was very cozy in my opinion. There were no homes very close but Adrian assured me his home was just a five minute walk through the woods. They showed me the pack house and took me shopping for extra groceries. The little store was just a ten-minute drive from the cottage. Then I set about moving in. since my old apartment was a one bedroom one bath, I had lots of room here. No neighbors to worry about and all the amenities including Wi-Fi and satellite dish. I made a tuna melt for lunch and sat on my porch watching the squirrels play. It was very peaceful. Yes, I would like it here very much.

The next morning, I walked to Adrian’s after breakfast to find out about my classes. He took me to the training fields where there were about ten teenagers sitting Indian style on the grass. I spoke to the instructor quietly then joined the group. We spent the next hour doing breathing exercises while the instructor walked around correcting our sitting position and diaphragm. Next, he had us do ten laps around the training field and finally we did yoga poses for an hour. When class was over, I was exhausted. I went home, made a tuna melt and then decided to go for a run. I called Adrian so I wouldn’t get lost and he was more than happy to go with me. We changed behind a tree and my wolf towered over his which only came to Diamonds shoulder. We ran and played for several hours before coming back home. I changed back into my clothes and Adrian hinted for me to stay but I told him I needed time to acclimate to my surroundings. I sat on my porch with a hot cup of tea and just relaxed for the first time in a long time. Then I took a long hot bath and went to bed.

Sunday was stormy so training took place in the gymnasium which was next to the training fields. This time it was a four hour session which told me I had missed an hour the day before. The kids were kind and easy to get along with. Instead of running laps during intermission, instead we jumped rope for thirty minutes. I was exhausted when class was over but I did feel more in control of myself. I went home, no play time with Diamond today. I made a pot of chili and watched Netflix all day. I made a marathon of the twilight series and then went to bed early as I had work tomorrow.

I caught a ride to work with Adrian and out of the blue he asked me if I would find his fated mate for him. I touched his hand and asked for Diamond’s help. I said your mate’s name is Rhonda and she works for Roman Securities. That’s all I know. He thanked me then asked why I didn’t get my own mate and I told him I wasn’t sure I wanted one. But the more I thought about it, the more I was curious. So I asked Diamond and she said he was a guard here on pack lands named Damien. Now I knew, and I could find him at my leisure. We went in to the precinct and up to our office cubicle. I started a new cold case. This one was a serial r****t who had no dna on file and had never been caught. He stopped r****g about a year ago and Diamond told me he was doing life in prison without parole for murdering a young girl. I marked the file with his name as a probable suspect and put it at the bottom of the box. Next file was a little girl, five years old missing for ten years. The odds were against us but Diamond said she was alive but couldn’t see where. She was in a box or a small room without windows. She had a bucket for a toilet and no sunlight. I wished very much I could help her but I didn’t know how. Diamond said we could go there and I asked her how. The next thing I knew I was in the box with the girl who looked dead. I leaned over and touched her then teleported back to the station. I CAN TELEPORT. I was going to tell Adrian but he had left to find his mate. I called Rocky but then changed my mind and teleported to Rocky, told him what was going on and he gave me a gps tracker to wear. Then he called a group of guards from the pack lands and had them meet us in front of Roman Securities. From there I teleported back to the girl who was awake and hysterical. I called Rocky who told me I was two hours away and that he had my coordinates. I sat with the girl to calm her down. I told her help was on the way but she didn’t believe me. She said the man would be here at six o’clock. When I checked that was just an hour and forty five minutes from now. I would have to defend myself for fifteen minutes if the guys didn’t hurry. I called Rocky and explained the situation and he said they would try to get there in time. As I sat with the girl she told me she had a baby and the man took it away. That she only got to see her when the man was in a good mood. I asked Diamond and the man had the baby with him but was running late. A praise for me but we would need to hide so we could get the baby as well. I called Rocky and told him to hide the vehicles because of the infant. He agreed and kept up his speed. Six o’clock rolled around and no one was there. I didn’t know if I could teleport more than one person so I was banging on the door trying to get it open. Then I heard the engine of a large truck or van pull up. We must be in a basement because it was coming from above and to the left of where we were. There was a loud bang and lots of fighting noise then all was quiet. We waited and waited for over an hour and still no rescue. I called Rocky and he said they had gotten all the girls out of the house but couldn’t find me. I told Rocky that we had been banging on the door but he couldn’t hear us so I asked him if the gps was correct he said it was so I told him to go to the exact coordinates. Finally we were freed. We had been behind a hidden door. So I asked them to use their noses and they found three more girls in similar rooms. All total we rescued eleven girls today. The man was captured and tied up and the van had four toddlers in it and one baby who we were able to pair with their respective mothers. I called the local police and ambulance and told them I had an anonymous tip to come out here. I got into trouble with my captain for not going through proper channels but as I explained to him, I was looking for one girl, not eleven girls and five small children. After a lecture on police procedures and going commando by myself and a few friends, he let me go. I decided to meet my mate.
