CHAPTER 2: The Whisper in the Dark

244 Words
Emily couldn't shake off the feeling that the stranger's whisper had left her with. It was as if he had been watching her, waiting for the perfect moment to make his presence known. She tried to focus on her daily routine, but her mind kept wandering back to the stranger. Who was he? What did he want from her? And how did he know exactly what to say to leave her feeling both scared and intrigued? As the days went by, Emily started to feel like she was losing her grip on reality. She would see the stranger's face in her mind, hear his whisper in her ear, and feel his presence everywhere she went. One night, as she was walking home from work, Emily felt a hand on her shoulder. She spun around, but there was no one there. The street was empty, except for the sound of crickets chirping in the distance. Suddenly, the whisper was back. "I'm always with you," it said. Emily's heart was racing as she looked around frantically. She knew she wasn't going crazy, but it felt like she was losing her mind. And then, just as suddenly as it had started, everything stopped. The whisper disappeared, and the feeling of being watched vanished. Emily was left standing alone in the darkness, wondering if she had really heard the whisper at all. But deep down, she knew the truth. The stranger was real, and he was watching her.
