Chapter 2, Chan's PoV

815 Words
What I'm doing is taking a massive risk, nearly guaranteeing my social life being destroyed, all in the name of love. I'm in love with Felix, see. None of my friends think he's even worth looking at, except for in disgust. Because he's Autistic, they say. But that's really not the reason. He's by far smarter than them. He's better at music and languages and is kinder and more empathetic. He's beautiful, passionate and caring. So, I did the only thing I could think of to kill two birds with one stone. I paid my sister Rachel to give me a week of crash-course lessons in K-pop, Felix's special interest. I was fully aware that there was nothing I could do to change the fact that Felix's deep understanding and knowledge would always surpass mine. She taught me about the companies. She taught me iconic groups. She taught me song lyrics and slang and showed me music and performance videos. We even watched a livestream by this guy Jungkook who looks like an emo girl. That also got rid of those dickheads I used to call my friends. So, I just got my club approved, and the first meeting is tomorrow. I'm enlisting my sister's friend Michelle to help me prepare, so I can stay calm, even when I have to watch my Felix get bullied. -Right after school (2:35)- "Chan-Oppa, you ready?" Michelle asks me, helping me hook up my laptop to the front screen. I take a deep breath. "Yeah. Let's just hope he doesn't run for the hills the second he sees me, yeah?" She laughs. "Well, I think that he'll give you a chance. You're pretty much obliterating your social life, just for a chance to hang out with him. Be optimistic, okay?" I smile and nod as the first few students walk in. They look at me with shock but go to sit with their friends. Felix walks quietly and timidly into the room and sits in the back corner. He pulls up his hood and hugs himself. Some students look back at him and snicker. I look at Michelle who raises her eyebrows, then shrugs as if to say 'Your man, your choice.' I walk to the front of the room and look across at all of them. I'm wearing black skinny jeans, Grand Court Adidas and a fitted white shirt. "All right, everyone. Welcome to the K-Pop club. I'm probably the last person you expected to see, but I'm leading this club, along with my sister's friend Hwang Michelle, to create a community space for K-pop and Korean culture enthusiasts. There are 3 rules. I will not tolerate bullying, shunning, or exclusion. You can curse, but not excessively. Above all, be open-minded. Not everyone will share your opinions. Let it go. Now, Michelle, take it away." I go to sit in the front while she starts PowerPoint. I have to admit, the men are hot and the music is fun and catchy. I see why people love this stuff. I can't help wishing I knew these choreographies, like they all do. Felix probably knows all of them. Felix! f**k, I need to start introductions! "Okay, that's it! Now, time for introductions. When I point to you, you will say your name, grade, and favorite K-Pop song. Go!" I pointed to a shy young lady wearing a Got7 shirt. "Hi, I'm Lisa. I'm a junior and my favorite song is Stamp on It by Girls on Top," I continued, pointing until I got to Felix. "Felix?" I asked gently. Somebody threw a wadded-up sheet of paper at him and he lifted his head up sadly. 'Y-yes?" I smiled. "Will you tell us your name, grade, and favorite K-pop song?" He pushed back his hood. "My name's Felix, I'm a sophomore, and my favorite K-pop song is Hope Not by Blackpink." he dips his head and pulls his hood back up. I see the ball of paper and remember my rule. "Kim Jisu? Something to say to Felix?" I ask. She smiles and giggles. 'Oh, sorry Oppa. I just wanted to wake him up!" her friends smirked at Felix and nodded. I raised my eyebrows. "Really? You wanted to wake him up, so you hit him with a balled-up piece of paper, with a note inside?" I feel tugging on my sleeve, and Felix is shaking his head, silently begging me to drop it. "This is your last warning, Miss Kim," she giggles more, disgusting me. "Of course, Oppa." I sigh and check the clock, we only have a few minutes left, so I tell the people to pack up. I walked over to Felix. "It's time to go, Felix. I hope I see you next week," I said with a small smile. He dips his head and quickly packs up and scurries out the door like a scared mouse.
