A man radiating extreme power stands with the most beautiful woman I have ever seen at his side she looks like a Goddess “Now I know damn well none of you are questioning his authority let alone mine…” He smiles toward me “Welcome Tamra.” Cerbe nudges me softly in approval “Thank you sir” He laughs “Call me Hades please you will be a resident here soon enough formality is for the work day” Laviathen's entire posture shifts subtly - not quite relaxing, but the dangerous edge recedes as genuine respect replaces defensive aggression. He inclines his head to Hades with far more deference than he showed Lord Malthor, though his hand never leaves yours. "Uncle," he acknowledges warmly, then nods to the stunning woman beside Hades. "Aunt Persephone. I wasn't expecting you both tonight." Persephone's smile is radiant and knowing, her eyes - one the green of spring growth, the other the brown of fertile earth - sparkling with amusement as she takes in the scene. "Oh, we wouldn't miss this for anything. The entire Underworld has been *buzzing* with the news." She glides forward with impossible grace, and despite her divine beauty, there's nothing intimidating about her warmth. "Three hundred years he's been locked in that estate like a beautiful, brooding statue, and suddenly a mortal girl shows up and he's throwing open doors and challenging councils." Cerberus's tail wags so hard his entire back end wiggles, all three heads making happy sounds as he recognizes his original masters. One head nudges you again, clearly pleased with the approval. Hades approaches with measured steps, his power making the air itself seem heavier, but his expression is genuinely kind as he studies you. "So you're the one who finally got through to my stubborn nephew. The one who makes my hellhound play fetch and sit at dinner tables." His dark eyes gleam with ancient wisdom and surprising humor. "Tell me, Tamra - do you have *any* idea what you've gotten yourself into?" Laviathen's tail wraps protectively around your waist, but he doesn't interfere, watching the exchange with evident curiosity about how you'll respond to the literal King of the Underworld. I laugh a bit nervously “I think I’m finding out but I am loving it” Cerbe nudges me again and I turn groaning “Go say hi and then sit Cerberus…” Cerberus actually *whines* - all three heads giving you the most pathetic puppy-dog eyes imaginable from a massive three-headed hellhound. But he obeys, trotting over to Hades and Persephone with his tails wagging (he has three of those too, apparently), butting his heads against their legs affectionately before reluctantly returning to sit beside you with an exaggerated huff of martyrdom. Persephone's laugh is like bells and growing things. "Oh, she's got him completely wrapped around her finger already. Hades, darling, remember when I first made Cerberus actually *listen* to commands instead of just doing whatever he pleased?" She turns her warm gaze back to you. "He's chosen you, truly. That's not something that happens lightly." The tension in the dining hall has shifted entirely - where there was suspicion and uncertainty, now there's curiosity and, from some of the younger demons, barely concealed excitement. Lord Malthor looks like he's swallowed something sour but doesn't dare contradict Hades's obvious approval. Hades gestures toward the table. "Please, join us. I find I'm very interested in hearing how exactly you managed to accomplish in one day what three centuries of well-meaning interference couldn't." His expression becomes more serious, though not unkind. "And we should discuss the transformation process. It's not without risks, and you deserve to know exactly what you're committing to." Laviathen guides you toward seats near Hades and Persephone, his hand supportive at the small of your back. He leans down to murmur in your ear, "You're doing amazing, by the way. Most mortals would be a puddle on the floor by now." * I smile looking up at him “Well I’ve never been most mortals have I?” Laviathen's expression melts into something so fond and proud that several nearby demons actually do a double-take at seeing their normally stoic prince look so utterly besotted. "No," he agrees softly, helping you into an ornate chair before taking the seat beside you, "you most certainly have not." As soon as you're seated, servants appear - demons of various forms carrying platters of food that ranges from surprisingly normal-looking dishes to things that definitely shouldn't exist in nature. Laviathen carefully guides your attention toward the safer options, his tail curling protectively around your chair leg. Persephone settles gracefully across from you, her smile knowing. "She has Elara's fire," she observes, not unkindly. "Different flavor, but the same refusal to be intimidated by circumstances that would break lesser souls." She reaches across to place her hand over yours briefly. "I liked her very much. I think I'm going to like you too." Hades pours what looks like wine but shimmers with starlight into goblets. "Now then - the transformation. Laviathen has undoubtedly explained the basics, but let me be clear about what you're choosing." His ancient eyes meet yours directly. "Your mortal body will be remade on a fundamental level. It will hurt. It will take time. And there's no going back once it begins. You'll lose your mortality, your human limitations, but also your tie to the mortal world. You'll belong here, to the Infernal Realm, bound by its laws and its nature." He pauses, studying your reaction. "Why do you want this? And please - no rehearsed answers. I've ruled the dead for millennia. I know sincerity when I hear it." “because I’ve never felt like I’ve belonged anywhere more than I do here.” The entire dining hall seems to hold its breath at your answer - simple, honest, and utterly sincere. Hades studies you for a long moment, his ancient gaze seeing layers beneath layers, reading truths that mortals can't hide from Death itself. Then, slowly, he smiles - a genuine expression that transforms his severe features into something unexpectedly warm. "There it is," he says quietly, lifting his goblet. "The reason Fate herself bent the rules." He glances at Laviathen, whose hand has found yours on the table, gripping tightly. "She's not here because of destiny or reincarnation or cosmic design. Those were just the mechanisms. She's here because she *chooses* to be, because belonging matters more than comfort or safety or the familiar." He takes a sip of his wine. "That's the kind of choice that reshapes worlds." Persephone's eyes are suspiciously bright as she raises her own goblet. "To belonging," she says softly, and around the table, other demons hesitantly raise their drinks - some with skepticism, others with curiosity, but all with respect for Hades's judgment. Laviathen doesn't raise his goblet. Instead, he turns to you, his ember eyes blazing with emotion so intense it makes your chest ache. "To home," he says, just for you, before pressing a kiss to your knuckles that feels like a vow. Lord Malthor clears his throat uncomfortably. "With all due respect, my lord, the formalities still require—" "The formalities can wait until after dinner," Hades interrupts smoothly. "Let the girl eat before we drown her in bureaucracy. Besides—" his smile turns slightly mischievous, "I want to hear how she got Cerberus to play *fetch*."
