C020 Eating Other People's Clams ?!?! Err... What Do You Mean?

Another week has passed peacefully. The execom members and I were having our morning tea when we saw a group of Imperial Guards and an excited looking man.

He was walking hurriedly while using a bamboo fan and busily fanning himself, while his Imperial Guards surrounded him in a formation as if he was a commander in a Roman Army. We looked at the group that was approaching and we just clucked our tongue.

The man in the middle was the Mayor himself and he was waving at us when he approaches us and when the other workers who were rising their break, bowed low. And as for us, we just waved at him back. An eye for an eye, a wave for a wave. Hahahaha.

When he reached our table, only then we stood up and bowed at him and he just waved us off with his fan.

"Omagai... Why are you in a hurry for? And you look so sweaty... Lucky you smelled like Karada Soap... Hahahaha. Your Excellency, give your fan to your man and make him useful... "

"Come, let me pour you tea since you poured us twice before. By the way, since you are here, please join us for our morning break. Your men can leave your sides and let them take a break at the meal shed there."

The other Imperial Guards were enjoying their break. The snack that we were having was called a multi-layered multi colour cake. It was made by rice flour that been individually coloured and was steamed in rectangular trays.

The more layers there are, the longer the process as each layer had to be steamed, then another colour was added and then steamed again. The process continues until you ran out of ideas on colours or simply ran out of patience, on when you could enjoy this rice flour pudding. Hahahaha.

The pudding had a hint of coconut milk and sugar and the small of screw pine extract. It goes well with coffee and I could only drink coffee when I go off set. On-screen, Japan had green tea and we used a bit of peppermint for flavour.

"What's this snack? I have never seen so many colours on it and it looks springy and smells so delicious!"

"Your Excellency, try eating like this..." I held the piece and stuck my tongue to lick one layer off and chew... "Mmmmmmmm..... This is the right way and the only way to eat this. Anyone caught eating any other way would have their tongue pulled by hot tongs! Hahaha!"

The mayor copied the way of me eating it and soon his face was filled with a sense of delight as he closed his eyes and chew on the soft layer of pudding."

"Must we eat like this? Why can't we just bite into it?"

"Your Excellency, we must show our appreciation when we eat this kind of cake because of the lengthy process to make every single steamed and proper before another colour was added."

"When the one prepared it we enjoy a piece like this, they feel honoured. Furthermore, if we just bite into it... There's no sense of enjoying it and we finished them in 3 bites."

"If you eat the way I showed you, it would take a longer time to finish one piece and we can relax and talk on why Your Excellency was in a hurry to get here... Is it because Your Excellency smelled this snack and came here to investigate?"

Kami heard and can't stop laughing and that made everyone laugh as well including the mayor.

"This is the first colourful layer of pudding cake I have tasted. Your cooks are an expert that is comparable to our cooks from the Palace but I don't think they know how to make this."

"Ah...we have a suggestion box here on what they want to eat for lunch or breakfast and our cooks will cook for everyone's lunch and dinner accordingly. In this way, we won't get stuck of eating the same thing over and over again."

They can build a 2 storey house this time and not pay a single bronze coin. The money they received was more than enough. Furthermore, what's good for this village was also good for them because they heard that this village will soon flourish as a town.

I was grateful for their understanding and told them that main priority would be their houses first as 8 new double storeys would be built and it would take about 80 men to build and construct a house in a week or 10 days.
