14 The accommodation options at Ross River Homestead varied from basic, for those traveling on a budget, up to five stars for the more affluent tourist. Amber, Ebony and Anna were not exactly budget travelers, at least not since the bank job, but it was imperative to convey an image of being budget-conscious backpackers so as not to draw undue attention to themselves. Amber’s room contained the obligatory single bed, a scratched and slightly rickety bedside table and, in one corner, a small bar fridge containing tiny capsules of long-life UHT milk.
