The team of investigators involved in the case had gathered in the Incident Room and were talking casually among themselves when Sam and Sarah entered the room.
Russell Foley moved to the front of the room, faced his team and called for quiet. He waited a few moments for the chatter to die down and then continued.
“Okay, listen up, folks. I called you all back in to bring you up to date with some unexpected developments. Sam and Sarah have been talking to a station hand employed out at Ross River Homestead. It may be a tad premature to be making any predictions, and I don’t want to pre-empt or speculate what may come of it, but there are some early indications that we may be close to a breakthrough.”
