There was a cool breeze ruffling the edges of the curtains beside the sliding door that opened onto the front of the hotel. There was no balcony, just an iron gate beyond the door to impede the drunk or the young, but it was a beautiful view and the night beyond was mild and temperate. Beyond the bathroom door, the shower had finally come to a stop and Lyle could hear Rafe humming to himself. Lyle had showered earlier, doing his best to enjoy the time he’d spent in the larger than expected bathroom. Unfortunately, even though Rafe had only been a door away from him, that space had seemed like too much. He was jittery, no doubt about it.
