Chance Encounters

"Henry, are you ready to go," I shouted. "Let's go."  Henry wasn't a morning person but damn this was ridiculous. We were su[ppose to meet the art investor at noon and it's now 1:30 pm. "Alright, let's go," Henry said. He came out looking like a male model. No matter what time period this man is in he always knew how to dress. After a fifteen-minute car ride, we finally reached the art gallery. Henry's close friend and fellow vampire Marius was there waiting for us. "Took you long enough, my friend," he said to Henry. "We have all the time in the world, Marius, " he replied. These two were like two peas in a pod. After catching up and having a few drinks they finally got to work. "So we have pieces coming from London and Paris. We have some of your original pieces as well," Marius said. "Excellent, I think this will be the best show yet," Henry said. "It will go as well as all the other ones," I said. They both stared at me and then turned around to talk to each other. "Yeah, yeah ignore me cause you know I'm right." "Well if everything is set for Sunday, we can enjoy ourselves now," Henry said. "Delightful, I will call you if any issues arise," Marius said. "Please, and let's ensure there are no issues," Henry retorted. In the past, Henry would host an art show in someone else's territory without permission and cause an uproar. There have been fights, battles, and even wars because of it. I usually bailed him out but we wanted a peaceful event like we have been having these past couple of decades. We got to our luxurious penthouse and sat on the couch. My legs were draped over his lap and his arm was stroking my hair. "I've missed you," Henry told me. "You always do," I replied. I giggled a little. "So tell me about this place." "Well, I haven't been here in a very long time but it still has way more werewolves than vampires," Henry explained. "Won't be a problem, will it?" I asked. "Shouldn't be," he responded. "You don't sound too sure," I said. "Well, Marius assured me he took care of all of that," he said. "Okay," I said unconvinced. He took my hand and led me to the kitchen. Henry handed me a bowl of grapes and I began to eat them. He began to move closer to me and gently combed his fingers through my hair. Henry and I were always close but we never went further than a few flirty gestures here and there. We only crossed that line once when we were both at our lowest but that was centuries ago. He is one of the only people on Earth I trust. "We should go out tonight," Henry said. "Where," I replied. "I know a place," he said. "I bet you do," I laughed. "It's not a vamp club is it?" "No," Henry answered. "But that would be fun too."  ~ "Alpha, there has been another murder at the south end of town," Cole said. "Did they leave any trace behind," Liam asked. "No, but it was definitely a bloodsucker," Cole replied. Christian was sitting at his desk listening to his beta and delta speak about the recent attacks in the town. He never really wanted to protect humans but this was getting out of control. Hunter could catch wind of these killings and come lurking and trying to kill every supernatural creature in the area. "Enough, I think we need to blow off some steam and have some fun tonight," Christian said. "We could use a bit of a distraction," Cole said. "Fine," Liam answered. They all walked out of Christian's office. He grabbed his glass of whiskey and looked at the picture in his desk. "I will find you and I'll make you pay," he said. ~ "Are you ready," Henry yelled. "Yes," I replied. I was trying to find the perfect outfit. I would have worn a dress but I always have to be prepared to deal with any unwanted guests when we go out. I wore these tight leather leggings and a lace bodysuit. I grabbed my heels and ran towards Henry. "Okay, let's go," I said. I yanked Henry by the arm and dragged him out the door. We reached the club after a twenty-minute drive. It was already packed but we got in with no hassle. I immediately dragged Henry to the dance floor. I have spent most of my life in a box so when I am living I make sure I dance. We had danced and then got drinks. Henry was looking around to see if he could find a blonde to sink his teeth into. He preferred blondes, they were easier to manipulate and erase their minds. After he got a little nibble we went back to dance. I suddenly felt a warmth in my heart and a magnetic pull. I looked around but didn't see where it was coming from. I tried to ignore it. ~ I felt my heart grow warm. I didn't know that was still possible. I felt a pull and walked over to where there were many people dancing. I saw this amazing red-haired beauty. She had the most amazing green eyes. Her curves and long legs were perfect. She had the most beautiful pink lips and her sincere smile could melt my cold heart with just one grin. She was dancing so perfect. I wanted to go over to her and hold her but I also wanted to run away. I didn't know why the moon goddess would ever give me a second chance mate because I also didn't want one. I wanted so badly to go home and forget I ever met her but I want to just push her against the wall and have my way with her. I hated how close other men were to her. I also hated the outfit she was wearing. I was thinking about how lucky I was to have Jessica who had nothing to show in clothes like that. It would piss me off if I have to fight every guy who stares. I was about to walk away but saw a man put his hands around my mate's waist. It wasn't a man it was a f*****g bloodsucker. I charged towards them and pushed his hands off her. She looked surprised and angry. " I won't let you have her bloodsucker," I growled. "Back off, dog," he sneered. She turned to face him and tried to calm him down. I got angrier and stepped closer to them. He tried to grab my arm and twist it. I was amused that he thought he could hurt me. I pushed him off me and he almost lost balance. "Both of you stop," she said. Her voice was smooth and delicate. She could command attention to any room she walked in with a voice like that. I got more impatient and wanted to yank her to my side. I hoped she wasn't a willing participant in his feeding frenzy. I was about to reach for her again when smoke suddenly filled the room. It had an awful foul smell. If it was hunters they were smart. They knew no creature with enhanced senses could find anything with that odor in the air. I ran out of the club and tried to get my sense back in place. I tried to pick up her scent but it was faint. I knew they were long gone by now. I let out a loud roar and my men came running to calm me down. "Find them!" I shouted. Cole, Liam and two of my other men ran and chased the faint scent. I went to my car and sped off back to the packhouse. ~ "What the hell Henry," I snapped. "What I didn't start it," he said softly. He gave me puppy dog eyes. I tried to keep my composure but I was livid. I didn't want a mate and not a rude possessive one like him but damn those eyes. His eyes were light grey almost bluish. He scared the crap out of me and I don't get scared easily. His dark brown hair was short combed back and wavy. He had a subtle beard not thick like Henry's. He was hot and dashing. He had a smaller build then Henry but still, those muscles were everything. I know he could pick me up and carry me like nothing. I was so thrown off by this new turn of events but this isn't anything I want to deal with at the moment. "So a pack of wolves come to the same night club and one of them just happens to be your mate," Henry said. "You figured it out," I said. "Well, yeah it was kind of obvious by his huge freakout," Henry explained. "Well the sooner we leave the better," I said.
