Chapter Twenty-Three Larry woke Sunday morning with a hangover and a heavy heart. The night before, he’d sat in the window of a small downtown bar with Chuck. Across the street, people had come and gone from a huge dance club, mostly in couples. The sight of every laughing couple had grated on him. He’d been single and relatively happy that way for a long time, but leaving Jessica had left a hole bigger than he could have anticipated. Chuck had found himself at a significant disadvantage, trying to comfort or advise his longtime friend with very little information.
